Aaaah but that's the beauty of humanity. Any time we say ""..it can't be any worse than..."" it almost guarantees that ""it"" will be worse.

Lord S, you're either deeply embroiled in a global controversy...or just need a new hobby. May I suggest oragami. It's fun to say even if you can't do it properly...oragami.

Thanks guys, the show went really well. I didn't blow (m)any lines and nobody ran into me so I guess I stood in the right places. As for the accent, the only time I felt it slip were in places where my brain started working ahead to remember lines (stupid brain). As I get more familiar with the timig that should stop.

Ah, coincidences.

Many miles away, I live in a small Kentucky town, population something like 2500, which features a professional repertory theatre (named, oddly enough, ""Horse Cave Theatre"". Check it out:
http://www.horsecavetheatre.org/

It was started in 1977 by one Warren Hammack, who did some TV back in the 60s and actually costarred in some great low budget Larry Buchanon movies like ""The Eye Creatures"" and the immortal ""Mars Needs Women"", known to Psychotronic film fans worldwide.

Anywho, both my children (ages 18 & 20) work (as production assistants and stage crew) and have performed there as well. One of the plays in the HCT repertoire this year is, you guessed it, ""The Mosuetrap"".

So what's the point? None, really, except I thought it was kinda interesting that I should run across a reference to this play on the DCMBs.

All the best to ya, Papercut! And many broken legs..."

Papercut,

I often walk past The Mousetrap (In London) on my way down to the river, and i've often wondered - is it any good? It's seen off all those ridiculous Lloyd Webber musicals with cats and roller skating trains, so I suppose it must have something going for it.
A word of advice, if you are worried about your British accent; just remember Keanu Reeves' stab at English in Dracula and then try to be the exact opposite of that.

Coincidentally, I've just spent the last three hours trawling the internet for fresh origami designs. Gems tonight have included a very impressive cobra made from a 6.5cm times 2 m rectangle, a strange rat designed by Eric Joisel, which is almost like a caricature of a rat, and best of all an incredible Anklosaurus with a complicated armour plated back.

good luck with your play.

I saved 40-odd pages, opened them in excel, and then sorted the poster's name column.
The hardest part was the second part.

Thanks backwards7. It's a fun play (good for the whole family...kids seem to really enjoy it - there are some odd characters in it). I'm through my first week and have been told that the accent is good. One of the actresses who plays my character's wife is British so she helped alot with the pronounciation of a few things. Good ol' Agatha Christie left a few plot holes that you could drive a bus through but that's actually become some of the charm of the play.

Apparantly she had some legal contract that says noone can make a movie out of the play until it stops running in London. Apparantly 3 people have had the movie rights and have died waiting for the play to end it's run. I thought it was pretty funny when I heard that.

Oh thought I'd mention this really cool vision I had the other day. I was driving down Scott Ave. and came to the intersection at Hampton Blvd. and saw this really cool add for a car. It had this viking guy with a Morningstar in one hand and an evil grin. The poster read ""the all new Ford Berserker, Morningstar Optional"" but the A and the L in optional were kind of faded.

After making a copul of turns I found myself at the corner of Duncan St. and Fegredo Ln. and some Movie theatre next to The House of Windowless Rooms (Purveyor of fine tea) was playing an old B Horror flick called Children and Monsters.

Then when I reached Christopher Way and Moeller St. there was a sing in front of the Triptych Church that read 'This sunday Revrend Warren will give a Thunder Sermon won't you be with us'.

Finally I made it to the music shop I was looking for (on the corner of John J. Ave and Muth Rd. of course) and in the window was a big poster of Nirvana.

as far as goals are concerned, mine is to reach ""member"" status by posting multitudes of inane drivel, so if i help this thread reach the 2nd row, i'm also furthering my own agenda...

my original plan was to post nonsensical stuff non-stop, but thinking of something to posts proves to be too much of a drain on my powers...

My baby daughter is arriving on Monday at midday.

Hoo-boy.

This is nerve racking stuff! I hopped into a lift yesterday and forgot to press the button to my floor. Bit preoccupied. Ended up fortunately on the 19th, as I was headed for 18th. Congratulated a friend on his baby's arrival, and forgot that I'd seen him since then already. Brain has dropped about 30 IQ points since we found out date and time from our gyno on Wednesday. Not quite zombied, but not quite all there, either.

We have got all the kit and a nursery full of pink things. Bought a bouncer thing today. Looking at air purifiers as the air here gets pretty horrible sometimes.

My wife is a Swede and a accountant, and so normally she is the epitomy of self-assurance and non-excitability. She is getting jittery, understandable but unusual, which I think has passed along to me.

Mike, please ensure that Sandalphon is otherwise distracted for the next few days... If I see anyone with glowing hands in the middle of the night they'll get a smack in the teeth.

I'll be back tomorrow and will stop in sometime next week and report on how it all went, but otherwise will be out of action for a few weeks on paternity leave. My tpb of A Dalliance with the Damned will arrive from Amazon in the interim, so if all goes well I'll be reading it in between changing nappies. Wish us luck."

" ...and Savaunt is a good name for a boy. Seriously though best wishes Dave. Hope you enjoy all those hours of sleep you'll be losing :)

I have to say that tonight has been a good night. I got up with enough time to chat with my girl friend who was at home sick, and make a smokes run before going to work.

Got to work and talked with one of my fellow telemarkters about halloween. I think I've a chance of talking him into doing a Spy vs. Spy duo (with me being the black spy of course).

Made a sale in my first 20 minutes. Then on about 7:30 my supervisor was getting ready to send me home early since I hadn't made enough sales. I was however in the middle of a call at the time. This was a situation where someone wasn't too happy with the company that I call for.

Seems someone had called earlier that day from the company and got their daughter on the phone. The little girl aparently heard the gal from our end use some foul language. Apparently she'd said to someone near her desk ""that fucking bitch hung up on me"" and their young daughter heard it.

So naturally they weren't too happy about it. Well I let my supervisor know what was up. She wrote down some details while the man of the house told me when it happened and so forth. Then I start explaining how I can understand that he'd probably not be too keen on hearing the sales pitch for the road side assistance program that we offer. He says ""as long as I got ya on the phone I might as well hear what it's about"".

And before I knew what was what I was getting someone over to my desk to do the verification for the sale! I still got sent home (about an hour later though) but I really impressed everyone. I think the fact that I pulled that off and turned it into a sale made a good enough impression that they won't hold it against me that I didn't make the quota.

So on my way out I stopped to talk to Thom (the penciller I'm working with on a comic book right now). He took a smoke break to talk about another idea he wants to do at some point.

Got home and my girl friend was feeling better. After chattin awhile I got a load of laundry started then went to go take some dvd's back to the rental place and get some quarters (we live at an apartment with a laundry mat just a short walk away).

Killed some time at Hastings (the video rental story that's also a book store, music store, and sells video games, god I love that place) checkin out a cool article on the next Grand Theft Auto game for PS2.

After that I stopped to get a soda for Diana and on the way home stopped to take a look at the latest progress on a mural being done on the side of a paint store. It reminds me of the sea of Quiddity from Clive Barkers Books of the Art series (Great and Secret Show being the first, followed by Everville [if you've not read those I highly recommend them] with a third one yet to come).

Got home and had dinner with Diana while we watched Star Trek Enterprise and that new version of The Twilight Zone with Forrest Whitaker. The first feature they showed mostly sucked. The second one with a guest appearance by Shannon Elizabeth totally rocked though. It even made comic books look cool.

Then a cuddled with my sweet sweet woman for awhile. After that I got up to do some writing. I just recently took a break from writing. Managed to get 11 pages done on the comic I'm working on with Thom and started some work on a novel that popped into my as an almost fully formed idea about a week ago.

I sit here smoking a carnival brand cigarrette (i.e. cheapie brand smoke) that I lit with a zippo my dad gave me awhile back. It's got a picture of an old style Naval Ship from when they were still made of wood. As I sit here smoking that cigarrette I'm also drinking a cup of orange pekoe & pekoe cut black tea that I brewed with a generic style tea bag.

Yup I definitely gotta say that tonight has been a good night.

Good night."

I don't think it was. Certain portions of Barkers work over lap and cross over like Harry D'amour from The Last Illusion (which was the title of the shrt story that became Lord of Illusion) showing up in Everville (and in Clives next book of short tales I hear he's gonna meet Pinhead [who will be dying in this tale] in some capacity).

Other stuff seems to be isolated such as Imajica or the Damnation Game. Then there's stuff that you never really know if it fits with anything else but you think it does. For example Galilee just feels like it should take place in the same world as Sacrement.

Anyhow it may have taken 43 pages, but you guys have finally converted me to drinking tea. Just wanted to say that even if it's a non sequitorial remark.

By the way Dave are ya gonna start the kid out on the devils music or let her wait til she's older? If you're about to ask what the devils music is... well I'll let you tell me."
