27 = 25 + 2; 3 x 9 = 25 + 2. See the dollar doesn't go anywhere. The problem is that you are trying to compare Apples and Oranges. 27 plus 2 is never supposed to reach 30, in fact, you are not supposed to add them in the first place, there is no way in that equation where you can get 27 plus 2.
The trick is not to find some obscure formula for why one buck goes missing, the trick is to figure out that the riddle works with a very wrong use of moving numbers in a equation."
