"perhaps tea bags II could be called ""progress through science: tea tablets""... but, no... the new thread needs to start with a post by one Michael Carey (note that his name is Michael... perhaps Mike's sister's name is Lucy, his mother Elaine and his two cat were named was Loki and Mr. Sigmund. Makes one think, eh?).

Speaking of endings... (awkward pause following the non sequitor) ... how should this thread end? The final page from Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle would do. Another satisfactory ending would be the words Beethoven scrawled on the margin of the four movement of his final work, Opus 135: ""Must it Be? Yes, it must!"""

Mr. Sigmund?

Actually, I think Mike had two pets as a child, a cat named Mikoto, and a canary named Susano. This explains a name many of us found rather puzzling:
9-year-old-Mike: Susano, Susano, where are you?
(Rund around searching, comes upon Mikoto licking his jowls)
9YOM: Susano? Oh no! Mikoto!!

As to endings, how about this one:
""Then again, maybe not""

Speaking of characters based on Mike's family. I think he has mentioned that Elaine is sorta based on his own daughter, but I'm not sure, maybe I'm thinking of someone else who based a character on his daughter.

Anyway, we all know Musubi is based on an ole spider demon from hell classmate. She and Mike became fast friends due to their love for comics, but were separated when Musubi tried to lay her hellspawned eggs inside the school's principal's ribcage and got kicked out of school. "

"Just want to see how many people I can befuddle with this

Three men went into a motel to hire a room. The man behind the desk said the room was £30, so each man paid £10 and went to the room.
Later the man behind the desk realized the room was only £25 (it wasn't much of a room!), so he sent the porter over to repay the guests £5.
On the way the porter couldn't figure out how to split £5 evenly between three men, so he gave each man £1 and kept the other £2 for himself.
This meant that the three men each paid £9 for the room, which is a total of £27. Together with the £2 that the porter kept, that makes £29.
Where is the other pound?"

"Ok.

30 = 25 + 5 So far so good, k?
30 = 25 + 3 + 2 And now lets give back the 3 bucks.

30 - 3 = 25 + 2 Cause 27 = 27 righty?

27 = 25 + 2; 3 x 9 = 25 + 2. See the dollar doesn't go anywhere. The problem is that you are trying to compare Apples and Oranges. 27 plus 2 is never supposed to reach 30, in fact, you are not supposed to add them in the first place, there is no way in that equation where you can get 27 plus 2.

The trick is not to find some obscure formula for why one buck goes missing, the trick is to figure out that the riddle works with a very wrong use of moving numbers in a equation."

Interestingnew definition of tea...
Tea: Distilled brain [wink]
Don't be too hard on yourself, though. The first problem took us 12 hourse to solve, the last one took 8 hours. Only the middle one was fast(6 minutes).

Where do you find these riddles?
