Rob has sent me an e-mail inviting us to migrate to his message board - we're looking at ways of saving the Teabags thread there. DMcD, if yoou've saved it, or Neilencio, I may have to borrow a copy from you. The new DC boards are in place, as detailed on his message board - they're bloody ugly and hard to navigate, and most importantly, their introduction will kill this thread (and all old threads). So, check out www.robkamphausen.com, post-Crisis.

This is what Rob says: quote:
in order to succesfully translate it to a ""living"" thread (rather than just an archive), id STILL need the cgi file.
however, having the whole thing saved provides 2 options. 1) you and/or i and/or a buncha them could go in and ""recreate"" each post. just copy and paste each post into a new post here, in order, until its all here. or 2) i could put the saved documents on my server, thus allowing you to archive everything, and refer back whenever.
whichever works best for ya.
regardless, y'might wanna start the invitin soon, cuz im not sure how much longer the old dcmbs'll last.
Rob can't access the CGI file. Any thoughts? Sounds like the server is the best option, at least for the interim. Copying and pasting 60 something pages will be hard work."

Heck yeah! However, I have a work-saving idea: We could split the work. People could volunteer for pages here on the thread, then you (or someone else) would send them a batch of messages and let them fill in those pages. It could be like a relay race... ![[wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) "

I took the opportunity to start a new life on the new boards...look for me as Johnny Bacardi, an alias I use pretty much everywhere else but here! Red, it's OK. I've crossed over and came back to let you all know it's gonna be all right. :) I hope someone's starting a new teabags thread over there. I'll have to go look now. ------------------ No, I'm not THIS Johnny Bacardi. Just in case you were wondering. ""'Twas a woman drove me to drink. I never had the courtesy to thank her.""-W.C. There's not much more to tell. Somebody noticed that while there's an aggressive anticussing thing that stops you from posting messages containing obscenities like ""wristwatch"" and ""S****horpe"", the boards have no problem with the anatomical term for a lady's front bottom. I posted a thread entitled after this term on the DC Messageboards thread there, and shortly afterwards got an email informing me I was suspended from the board. Presumably somebody else had already brought this matter to their attention."

Hello? This just reaches new levels of absurdity. Did they explain why your post was so offensive, or what the possible harm was? And if they thought it was so bad, couldn't they just erase the post, politely inform you that ""you shouldn't do that, you naughty boy"" and let you off with a warning? Not to mention the double standards they are setting. DC has no compunctions against printing magazines depicting ""physical intimacy"", but it is illegal for people to discuss it on their message boards?"

Me too, Nilencio. I'm also waiting for them to tell me whether ""suspended"" means I'm frozen out until I start behaving myself, or permananently barred. Oh well, I could think up another identity, I suppose. They deleted the thread as well, btw, but they're good at that: I'm told the new teabags thread has been pruned as well. Maybe the mods will calm down a little once the board has been up and running for a bit."

There are some new moderators. The inside word is that they're being more strict nowadays. Sounds like they're making it ""kid friendly"" with a big streak of overzealousness. Rob is setting up a board at www.robkamphausen.com for the Legion mb guyswho do the same sort of things we do (rampant off-topic posting). If there are enough people here willing to migrate, he'd probably do the same for us.

Yes, I did find all the Scooby Doo and Bugs Bunny banner ads rather, um, off-topic during my visit to the Fascist State of Orange and Black (FSOB).
You have to wonder whether sticking the Vertigo and Wildstorm boards in with the general Warner Brothers kiddie boards has really been thought through or whether it was a bit, hey! If we mash them all together, we can save on hosting costs!"

"Not found this new board of yours- from the sounds of it, it seems a bit totalitarian whilst the new mods are testing the waters. Would someone plz post a stongly toned post over there sometime along the lines of (well feel free to modifify it a tad for typos/tone etc):
Censorship of the teabags thread is not on.
What do they want us to do? Lucifer's one of the more difficult comics to discuss. The board isn't inhabited by standard 'fanboys' with the wolverine v batman battle threads, nor does it have centuries of history since sandman's got its own thread. Each issue is discussed objectively as it's released- that only takes one or 2 threads.
So what if the tone of the lucifer board's a little crazy- discussing single issues only takes one or 2 threads a month unlike the gazillion bat/supes books on the shelves, all interrealted where you can pick holes in continuity very easily. Lucifer doesn't have predictable plotlines, so we can't moan it's all been done before. The creative team doesn't change, and there aren't many books on the market that can be compared to it. So what would you have us discuss?
What's wrong with a little diversity in our threads on top of the standard discussions? Surely the current teabag thread on the board to be phased out isn't spam- I'd say a reasonable proportion of it comes out with serious issues including SARS and other global issues. There are also a fair number of artistic essays/contributions from people about the virtue of seemingly insignificant items such as tea- think of the thread as a way for the group to be creative together about a random topic.
Humour us - give us at least one creative thread for our members to enjoy contributing to - if people don't want to read it, they don't have to."

I really can't imagine the Lucifer boards being sanitized into a ""Kid Friendly"" version.
I mean, it's sort of an extension of the comic and just imagine the Lucifer Comic sanitized into a ""Kid Friendly"" version eh?
I wouldn't buy a homogenized Lucifer."

Believe it. It's true. There's a discussion going on over ont the new board about the whole thing. The thread is titled ""To the new moderators"". Turns out the ""new moderators"" is Rob. I just posted a lengthy defense of the Teabags thread there. Feel free to join in... I don't think it'll work, but we could at least go out in a blze of glory, eh ? :) "

I could ask the people at Comicboards if they would host a Lucifer board. Generally they are much more recipient to new boards if the creators involved would be interested in participating and so far I'd say Mike & Co have been fairly active. Mind you their boards are not UBB boards so maybe their setup wouldn't suit everyone, and while I think they might be open to the idea I can't give any guarantees. http://www.comicboards.com Tenz."
