It has Spider-man's web stretched out between the two tower of the WTC, to catch a helicopter.

I wonder if that will now hit the editing room floor.

That scene is on it's way to the cutting room floor I'm sure. I wonder if it will be replaced?

The trailer would certainly have been pulled.

Have any of you stopped to consider that the days of the big Hollywood blockbuster where buildings are destroyed in spectacular fashion are now over?

Watching that second plane hit the WTC, I couldn't help but think of that scene in The Matrix where the copter crashes into the glass front building. Much of the attitudes and reaction of people reminds me of The Seige with Denzel Washington. As I sat watching the initial coverage on Tuesday, I kept thinking I was watching a Die Hard movie. Remember all the destruction shown in Independence Day, Armageddon and others that showed real world landmarks being obliterated?

I submit that we will never see a new movie that features any type of wholesale destruction of buildings ever again.

Never is a long time Basti.

Give a sensationalistic director a little time and he will wish to recapture the terror of Tuesday on film.

And have no doubt that this days very events will be a soon to be released motion picture and/or made for television movie.

The backlash against any director, studio, producer or actor that would dare try to use this ehinous event as a means to cash in will be incredible.

Never may be a long time but, the memory of the public is even longer. You can make movies showing the horrors of WWI or WWII or Vietnam or Pearl Harbor or whatever. It some sense, there is a nobility in war, even one as unpopular as 'Nam. People will accept the images they see. Hell, 'member that movie from the 80's The Day After? Even that was acceptable as the idea of nuclear holocaust is just so unthinkable that it's OK to see it as a fictional story. It's just not real enough for us to take it seriously. All that changes now. No suspension of disbelief is required to see a huge building destroyed in the space of 2 hours. We've all seen it on the news.

This tragedy will weigh on our collective conscience and soul for many, many years to come. There will be documentaries made, for sure. But I don't think the public will accept images of this crisis or similar ones in a fictionalized story. At least i hope not in my life time.

I think you give the media too much credit Basti.
They will file as if it were a "Patriotic" film such as many of the war dramas filmed in the day.
And given some of the crap that has come out of Hollywood and Shock-TV. I wouldn't doubt it.
Then again maybe I give them too little credit, perhaps they have also had a change of heart with this incident.

We can only hope. I know that I won't be spending my money to support anything that attempts to cash in on this. I hope that all of you feel the same.

But think about the Challenger disaster, and then think the film Armageddon, which had a space shuttle exploding. The analogy isn't exact. But the producers obviously weren't bothered by the Challenger disaster when they plotted the film.

As sad as the Challenger situation was, it pales in comparison to this one. I was watching it as it happened and it totally fucked me up at the time but, I can't say that seeing that scene in
quote:
Armageddon
reminded me of it.

This one will be in our memories for too long.

I could be wrong about this but, I really hope I'm not. I'd hope that the movie industry has the decency to leave this one alone.

Probably as I write this, there's some hack sitting at his pewter, just like me...watching/listening to the news, just like me...making a scipt and selling it on spec to Dino DeLaurentis or somebody.

That thought just depressed the hell outta me.

Never is a long time.

The biggest movie release yet this year has been Pearl Harbor. That would have been unthinkable 55 years ago...

They also postponed the release of the new Tim Allen movie Big Trouble because the plot centers around a bomb in a piece of luggage on an airplane...Actually not a bad idea, considering it has Tim Allen in it, but then again, it is based on a novel by Dave Barry and also features Rene Russo, so I'm kinda torn on that...

Also, the new Schwartznegger movie (I didn't know he still made movies!) has been delayed because of a scene featuring a bomb blowing up a skyscraper...Doubt anybody would have seen it anyways...

Schwartznegger? Didnt he play a Batman villian?

Dav heard from a Chicago DJ, Buzz Killman, that the Spidey scene was indeed scrapped.

the spidey / wtc scene, if im not mistaken, was never in the movie - it was merely for the trailer.

regardless, it, and posters of it, have been removed from the web and film previews.

Some reports from a liquid news (BBC)

Spiderman trailer sequence actually destroyed rather than just cut and film might be scrapped entirely.

New Arnie film (forget title) is being reshot in parts and will be delayed indefinetly (year or two suggested)

Men In Black 2 the enitre end sequence which was taking place in or around the WTC is being reshot.

There was another film mentioned but I don't recall the details.

Tim Allens new flick has a scene, or plot point about a bomb on a plane. Or something similiar.

It's been shelved for now at least.

when my roommate and I were glued to the tv on Tues, he made the comment while we watched footage of the whole disaster that it was like something out of independence day. I wonder if maybe that's half of why it all seems so surreal, to see this happen in real life after years of seeing it in fantasy.

Initial reaction: Hell NO!!!

Thought inspired reaction: perhaps there is too many pumpkin bombings and too many kids will want to see the film.

Think Die-Hard, people. Nakatomi plaza, a skyscraper has a few floors blown up by terrorists... (okay, McClain did one floor too). That shows a skyscraper being damaged.

Die-hard II, involves Washington, DC. Airport is overrun and two planes blow up as they are taken over. One piloted by a person who knew how to fly a plane and killed the pilots. Okay 3 planes blew up. Sorry about that.

3rd one. NYC. The Finacial district. getting the picture? Lot's of explosions...

It's U.S. media... perhaps. Stop making Die=Hard movies.

A special on ABC states that the WTC scenes will be removed but the movie will go on as scheduled.
