This weeks issue has the twin towers burning as a result of OWAW. Should they have stopped the shipment of this book? Could they have? Should they have recalled it? I'm not sure how I feel about it.

It's just a story. It was written long before any of this ever happened. I don't see any disrespect or anything coming from shipping the book.

Superman has some history of unfortunate coincidences. The most infamous was the story in which he needed someone to impersonate Clark Kent so they could appear at the same place at the same time. So he picks JFK to do it, since he was the most trustworthy person in the world. Unfortunately, the book hit the stands days after JFK was assasinated. There was a big backlash from people for whom the implication was that the secret was safe since JFK was dead. Of course, the story had been written and drawn way before, and the irony was that editor Mort Weisinger was a huge JFK supporter. Like this issue of AoS, it was just a tragic coincidence.

I saw a report that a lot of new movies and television shows are being shelved indefinitely as a result of the Trade Center and Pentagon bombings. Included are the new Spiderman move, a new Schwarzenneger movie with terrorist themes, the "most highly anticipated show of the coming season" called "24", if I recall correctly, and many others. The logic is, after seeing the real thing, the public no longer sees fantasy terrorism depictions as desireable entertainment. [ 09-16-2001: Message edited by: Dave the Wonder Boy ]

That and there's just been too much in the past years. You can't go to the movies with out seeing something blown up. Don't get me wrong, I like action movies, but someone has to say no at some point. Think about it, the events of Tuesday played out like a movie. Wouldn't you agree that hollywood should be more responsible? I'm not blaming Hollywood for this, but it's just too close for me.

I just love a good action movie. Seeing it for real this past Tuesday sickened me. Funny thing is I can separate fantasy from fact! Could someone hand me my cape, please?

"medication time, mr. west!" hollywood, like every other industry, will step up to this challenge, most definitly. even if only for fearing financial loss, they will remain respectful to the issues at hand.

There are plenty of people out there can seperate the 2, but it's a matter of respect at this point.

Seperating the 2 isn't the issue.
People picking up comics looking for an escape from the weeks events are now treated to a very familiar scene. Horrid coincidence yes, but it's there none the less.

I agree. Wed. I was able to stop by my shop and pick up a stack of the many books they've been holding for me these past few months, and a few of them were OWAW tie ins. It was disturbing in a way to open Batman and see people scrambling for their lives amidst a pile of rubble that was a building in the last ish. Comics have been my escape from reality for years and now with what happened, I think it'll be a while (few weeks or so) before I can read them again.

I don't think that was the WTC. Look beside them. It says Metropolis. I think thats LexCorp towers

You may well be right on that count Snake. Still to close to reality for me though.

Doesn't DC in general have a history of unfortunate coincidences? There's the Wonder Woman/Princess Di death thing, and the Gotham City/some country(Turkey?) earthquake thing...

I'll admit that I at first thought it was the WTC but thats probably just because it was fresh on my mind.
