Is this an "official" proposal, or just some guy with an idea? Everything I've heard from the leaseholder of the WTC (Is Silverstein the name?) maintains that the buildings would be
smaller, perhaps four fifty-story buildings.
I don't know if they should be as tall as they were; that's up to the architects. I do want them to be big and striking enough to make a statement in the skyline like the towers did. And what I really want is for them to be beautiful. The WTC was impressive, but the truth was that they have always been criticized on aesthetic grounds, and the plaza around it was really sterile and the streets around it were a mess. I'm hoping that the new site is more pedestrian-friendly, and that the memorial site is on some parkland. I like the Jewish tradition of planting trees, answering death by planting new life.
