Y'know, I was about to just post one of those eye-rolling emoticons (
) and be done with it...
...but then I had a thought: Perhaps the reason we haven't seen "The Great American Novel" in the last 50 years (and I'm assuming we haven't -- nobody's offered a viable candidate for anything published RECENTLY) is because the NOVEL is no longer the dominant expression of a culture. Perhaps only movies can speak for the culture?
