Today, Paul McCartney is finally doing something right...
The Let it Be album is being released without Phil Spector's overdubbing. A Stripped down version (some of which we've heard on Anthology 3) is now available to us.
I'm curious to hear this. At the very least, it's gotta be as good as the Let it Be album the way it was released in '70... but something tells me it'll be better.
All this, and the Second Season of the Monkees out on DVD... Not to mention Ric Flair!
Today may be a good day.

My local radio station played the majority of the album on Sunday morning. It was good. Very good. And I don't like the Beatles.

not really. George Lucas added things to his original to make it "better". McCartney is taking away what was added so the songs are the way they were originally recorded.

Given that MacCartney wrote a number of songs that have been known to kill the occasional diabetic (The Long and Winding Road springs to mind, for a start) the fact that he's spent the last thirty years whining about how Spector added loads of sugary overdubs shouldn't be taken seriously. You get the impression he just has a chip on his shoulder because Spector summoned up the most awe inspiring rock sound of all time for Lennon on "Instant Karma", while his stuff on Let It be got drowned in syrup. If Spector had been given something other than saccharine ballads to work with, maybe the results would have ended up being worth a shit. It seems that MacCartney's buying his wife a plane for Christmas, along with a ladyshave for her other leg.

I bought it.
Not too bad.
It's different, to say the least (from the original version, that is)..
Let It Be (the song) actually sounds better, more... ethereal than the released version. Get Back, and a few others were all heard on Anthology 3. It wasn't bad.
The only thing I hated about the disc was the Copyinfringment paragraph inside the tray, telling me how even letting someone borrow a CD to copy is like stealing. I'll be taping a picture or something over that soon.
Oh, and about McCartney... Without Lennon, McCartney did one good song... only one... Band on the Run. Otherwise, Paul McCartney is the least talented of the surviving Beatles.

You've got to be kidding me!
So much for "fair use". Methinks we've let the RIAA and MPAA go too damn far. I blame our Congress-for-Sale

The new A Perfect Circle album had the same paragraph in the booklet.

Yeah, it's shit like this that usually makes me refuse to buy new CDs... unless it's Weird Al.

"home taping is killing music" on the back of my Altered Images Greatest hits vynil album. Complete with a skull and crossbones graphic. Subtle. Yep. The dreaded cassette tape brought the music industry to their KNEES! but that's ok, they then spent the next 2 decades grossly overcharging CD's and then using that money for lawyers and the like to finally eliminate "fair use". All the while they've collected a percentage of all blank recording media from burners to blank CD's to casettes. Why won't they die? As for the Beatles album? I haven't heard it. I am a big Spector music fan so i'd probably not like it as much as the original. right now i'm actually listening to "silence is easy" by Starsailor which just happened to be produced by Spector just before he finally lost it.
