It's always been my opinion that those whom prey upon children, be it molestation or murder, are the lowest form of criminal in existence, and should be dealt with in such terms. You may say that killing them would make us no better than they are....well, screw you. Martial law is highly underrated, as are vigilante tactics. If I could, I'd voluteer time to making sure that each one of these sick people had a bullet with their name on it.
'Course...my morals and ethics were instilled on me by a bunch of fictional characters who participate in vigilante acts, so I may be biased.
You have to take into account the fact that some of these guys are mentally unstable and often aren't aware of what they're doing. How many mentally retarded convicts are there on death row right now?

Do away with life imprisonment and shorten the term for deathrow sentences.
I mean...if you've done something so heinous that you have to be locked away from society for the rest of your existence, then thre's no use for you...so skip the middle man and ship yer ass off to deathrow...and I ain't talking about this "years of appeals" bullshit either...how long can a dude sit on the mile these days? Up to 12 years? Bullshit. If they're to be put to death, then let's get it over with. In a perfect world, a guy who's waiting for his death sentence to come due shouldn't have to wait to long...wouldn't that be cruel and unusual punishment, anyways?
What this plan would lead to:
a thinning out of the prison population
less violent crime (if ya knew for a fact that you were to be put to death for something, wouldn't that deter you away from such actions? )
Plus...the means of execution these days have been softened by bureaucracy...do you know that they wipe an inmate's arm with alcohol before they give him a lethal injection? Oh yeah...wouldn't wanna give the poor guy an infection before we kill him. Jesus christ.
When's the last time we burned anybody at the stake? Or beheaded someone? Them were the days! Hell...I'd pay to see that shit! Seriously!
I worked with a child molester for 3 years without a clue. Some co-workers(after the guy got sent up the river) told me they had seen some signs of it in him but were afraid to say anything really pissed me off. Anyway the guy died in prison.

This is essentially my feeling on the matter. Of course, I'm constantly haunted by the justice system being completely flawed. It pains me to think that we rest our fates in the hands of carnal men, but what can I do? I didn't set up the system, but I have to abide by it - thought not necessarily respectfully.
I am a strong believer in the NRA and what it is that they stand for. People these days don't seem to realize that guns, while being dangerous, are a constitutionally-protected right for protection and defense - but that's where I draw the line. So many feel that guns are an evil of society and don't realize that it's really SOCIETY that's evil! Men will kill and abuse whether or not guns are legal or illegal. That doesn't make it right, but it's the way it is.
As to the matter at hand, the recent outbreak of child kidnappings and murders only cements and upholds my belief that mankind is flawed and evil. Unfortunately, this behaviour will continue and continue as there's nothing that we men can do on our own to stop it. It pains me more than anything, but, as I see it, it is an unfortunate fact of life. I wish it could be another way, but, sadly, that's not possible...

I'm not excusing the crimes, but some of these people are no more guilty than you or I, and they need help.
If I had it my own way, I'd want to make sure the murderers, regardless of their problems, never returned to civilized society again.
I'm fundamentally against the death penalty (which I think puts the government on the same level as a murderer) and gun ownership (its a cultural difference, I think - Australians paid a special tax to their conservative government to get rid of guns about 5 years ago).
Having said that, I have no compassion for child molestors. Its a disease of the mind. If someone can't be treated for it, they should be put in a place where they can do no harm to children, ever.
For those of you with a vindictive streak, you should know that child molestors receive "special treatment" in prisons. Fellow inmates tend to extract brutal justice.
....not so much vindictive but i feel an eye for an eye is appropriate, great pain caused to children should be revisited upon those who committ it.....

Thease people are aware of what they are doing,they just don't care.Most of thease people get a thrill out of hurting animals and childern.I guess it's some kind of power trip that I hope I never understand.

I have mixed feelings on this, but agree with Animalman. Although I think it's just TOO easy to claim insanity and shit to cop out, there are a few really crazy people who are just fucked in the brain.
We can all sit here and bitch but until it's YOU, say, for example, that passed out and you wake up in jail because you microwaved your baby while you were "asleep" - would you want society to hate you like we do them, or to have a little mercy?
On the other hand, how do you really "cure" that? Like the woman who drowned her kids....she was fine until she stopped going to therapy and taking her drugs, and BAM! into the bathtub they went.
I don't think it's really about curing anyone, it's about providing the unfortunate with a chance at a happy life, something that they obviously haven't been given a shot at before. They deserve that.
Death Penalty ... I'm against it, even for child-molesters. For one thing, "child molester" is too broad a term ... there are people who would want to apply it to twenty year-old men who sleep with seventeen year-old girls, and that doesn't really seem like a crime worthy of death (it might be worth kicking the crap out of the guy but it really isn't worth killing him over). Then you have to consider the number of innocent people that would inevitably get chewed up by the system, and that's the one that really clinches it for me. Yeah, I know, it's a big expense to keep some child molester alive in prison for the rest of his life, but I call that the price of civilization.

There it is, plain as day, and you can really see where the Founding Fathers were coming from. I'm not a "gun person." I'm not really crazy about the things, even though I grew up around them. In Alaska, in the middle of the woods, a gun was just one of those things you had, like a coat or a truck. You needed the gun to survive -- and to me, that's what it's all about. The gun represents the ability of the populace to feed and defend themselves independently of the government. And let's not forget that when the Founding Fathers drew up the Bill of Rights, they had just finished whacking their own government upside the grape with those arms.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A group of parents sexually molested and photographed their own children and swapped pictures over the Internet, forming what one man called "the club," said U.S. Customs Service officials who announced charges Friday against 10 Americans and 10 Europeans.
Forty-five children were victimized, including 37 Americans ranging in age from 2 to about 14, said Customs Commissioner Robert C. Bonner.
"These crimes are beyond the pale," Bonner said. "They are despicable and repugnant."
The suspects are men except for Bente Jensen of Denmark, who was charged along with her husband, Eggert Jensen.
Among the U.S. citizens charged since January are chiropractor Lloyd Alan Emmerson of Clovis, Calif., who has pleaded innocent, and eight others named in a federal indictment unsealed Friday in Fresno, Calif.
Another, Jeffrey Naimo of Killeen, Texas, has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, Bonner said.
Six residents of Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands also were indicted in Fresno, including the Jensens, and the Justice Department ( news - web sites) is seeking their extradition, Bonner said.
Four other Europeans were charged abroad as part of a joint investigation with the Danish National Police that reached Belgium, Germany, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Customs officials said they would not identify them or specify their nationality because the investigation is ongoing.
"What is particularly disturbing about this case is that the majority of the people who have been charged were actually the parents who were sexually exploiting their own children," Bonner told a news conference.
A few of those arrested received pictures but did not produce them, Bonner said.
Each charge of sexual exploitation of children, conspiracy to exploit children, and receiving and distributing child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years to a maximum of 20 years. Some defendants could receive 60 years if convicted of all charges against them, Bonner said.
More arrests are expected. Authorities are still trying to identify other children in some of the explicit pictures.
Investigators allege that members of the ring befriended each other through Internet chat rooms and began trading explicit computer messages.
Men sometimes requested photographs of children in specific sexual poses. One asked for an audiotape so he could hear a child crying while being spanked, the indictment said.
The investigation began when the international charity Save the Children found a picture on the Internet that appeared to show a child being molested and reported it to Danish authorities.
Danish police found information on the Jensens' computer that was forwarded to the U.S. Customs Service and led to Emmerson's arrest. A search of his computer led to more arrests, officials said. Emmerson's lawyer, H. Ronald Sawl, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The other Americans facing charges include: Paul Whitmore of San Diego; Brooke Rowland, San Diego; Tracy Reynolds, Longview, Texas; Leslie Peter Bowcut, Burley, Idaho; Michael David Harland, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Harry Eldon Tschernetzki, Spokane, Wash.; John Zill, Greeneville, S.C.; and Craig Davidson, Kansas City, Kan.
An 11th American, Sean Bradley of Reno, Nev., committed suicide prior to the filing of formal charges, said Customs special agent Mike Netherland.
The other four foreigners indicted in Fresno were identified as Jean-Michael Frances Cattin, Marcel Egli and Peter Althaus of Switzerland; and Dirk-Jan Prins of the Netherlands. No hometowns were provided.

I dont know if you remember another ammendment that outlawed alcohol.....but as we came to see was a really stupid idea.....just beacause something was deemed approriate over 200 years ago...doesnt necessarially make it right nor wrong.
