G-Man's advocate position is correct. Popularity <> quality.

And the really good bands extended into areas the Beatles couldn't/didn't.
I'm giving the Beatles their due, I swear. But I just cannot accept that all trends in rock were started by them and that that all those trends were performed better by them. That's just silly.
