I do not believe abortion to be ethical.
I believe it is murder because, all religious banter aside and even if you do not believe life begins until the actual birth date, if a fetus is left to carry on until its term it will become a child. If one stops this from happening a person is being denied life. I do not see how this can be refuted.
As far as rape goes, I agree with CJ, don’t take it out on the kid. It’s a tragedy the woman got raped and it’s a huge burden to know that in her womb is the baby of her rapist…but, as cold as this sounds, life is hard…we can’t always choose what happens to us, only our reactions. The child is part of her as well.
I knew a young woman who was raped and got pregnant. She decided to carry to term. Two years later that child is her world and she can’t imagine life without this tiny person. Knowing the kid myself let me say the world would be darker without him around.
