I do enjoy hiding behind my internet persona, but this is so much a part of me now, I need to share it. Two months ago I went in and had gastric bybass surgery (like carnie wilson and al roker had). So far I am down 33 lbs and a couple of sizes. I have a ways to go, but it is going quick. I really think this is the best decision I ever made. I was at the "lower end" of people havng the surgery (had I weighed 10 lbs less I would not have been able to get it) so the weight loss is slower than for some. But this is the most weight I've ever lost not due to illness, and a helluva lot quicker. It is a total lifesyle change, eating six 1/2 cup meals a day, counting protein, avoiding sugar and fat, getting in 64 oz of water a day, occasionally getting sick. And there is the 5 inch scar on my abdomen. But all worth it. And now that I am off restriction I am working out at a woman's gym called Curves. So that's my story.
Good for you, Kimi. My wife had gastric by-pass surgery about 2 years ago (around the same time I went vegan, as a matter of fact), and she went from 315 to 145 in roughly 18 months. In fact, I'm definitely leaning toward getting the surgery myself pretty soon as I have got to be the world's fattest vegan (French fries are vegetables too, y'know! ). I originally lost about 40 pounds when I became a vegan, but my poor eating habits and sedentary life-style soon caught up with me and I gained those pounds back plus many more to go with 'em. Geez, there are just so many tasty processed vegan foods and snacks out on the market that are hard to resist: practically every single unhealthy food that your average meat-eater consumes now has a heavily processed vegan analog that is almost as bad and fattening as the food it is imitating!
