Are you mocking Schaffenberger??? Schaffenberger is one of the greatest artists of all time...Kirby sucks next to Schaff's beautiful linework IMO.
I love Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane. It's the greatest comic ever made and was the highest circulated comic of the 1960's. Apparently many agreed.
Ohh, and Schaffenberger also drew Supergirl in Adventure Comics and Action for some time as well..blowing away Mooney's wonderful interpretation.

Would I have blown nearly 50 bucks on old Lois Lane comics (including an 80 Page Giant) from my local comic shop if I were mocking something?

Didn't know about Action and Adventure, though. I did pick up a Superboy comic (#1 to be exact) from the 70s or 80s, and Schaffenberger was doing the art.

Sorry..  Yeah you're talking about new adventures of Superboy..he did them all with Dave Hunt on inks....about 50 issues.. He also did some sporadic jimmy Olsen books and had a story in every issue of Superman Family...atleast Mr and Mrs Superman, but sometimes more....He also drew the definitive Robin origin story from the 70's detective comic backup serial, some Superfriends issues, and a few Dc Comics presents books..one with wonder Woman stands out from memory. the Adventure backups go from around 381 to 400 and the Action backups are sporadic from 320 or so to 350..basically until her adventure run started....

I would humbly submit that Schaffenberger was much, much, better as a SHAZAM artist. His work on those books, in the 50s AND 70s, far surpassed his Superman work.

Yeah..he also did shazam 13 up and also the final 20% of ouput from Fawcett mostly on marvel family, cm jr and cm adventures....
I love it all....I just favor the Lois and Supergirl stuff personally...the Marvel family stuff was great as well and the inks on that book stand out as really good from memory...I'll have to dig them out...

I thinks my favorite Schaffenberger Lois art was from a story reprinted in issue #84.
Lois thought she was gonna die, so she did all sorts of stupid shit.
On the Splash Page for the story, Lois is sitting in a rocket... beside her is a calm, cool, collected monkey!
But that wasn't the best part...
A Few pages later, we're back to the rocket. Lois is trying to report her story from the rocket, and in the seat beside her, is the monkey... the pissed off monkey.
Schaffenberger's art is so good, you can almost hear what the monkey is thinking. One can hear the monkey say to himself "BITCH! Steal my thunder...."
Schaffenberger not only drew the best Lois, but some damn good monkeys as well!
