We can't all be The Walrus.

Well, I could be The Walrus, but I'd still have to bum rides off people.

Sorry. Had to get that out of the way.

Anyway... Nice work everyone! Teamwork is excellent, and you guys are all strategizing wonderfully!

Danny - Great work portraying Phil! His actions should be, as you wrote them, distinctly different now that he can't just act on impulse anymore. He has to patiently process information, then decide the best way to act on it, then actuallydo it - without the benefit of normal human sight. Fortunately, all this is rapidly becoming an intutive process, as you conveyed quite well.

go.

Danny : Fun stuff! Love seeing Danny in action. Fight scenes are fun.

Euro : LOL! Nice clean-up, but, with a Danny-like twist. Well done.

Doc : You've really gotten into the reasoning/detective aspect of Adem, and it works perfectly for the character. After the fact, I realized the way I wrote Drake in my 'Zarch'-post might have come off similiarly. That was not my intent, but, rather, I was hoping to set up the difference between Adem's natural intuitive detective skills, and, Drake's experienced urban-tactical prowess.

The steps taken by Adem, using logic and reasoning, that helped him reach the proper conclusions about Matthews, were executed with expertise. I was really impressed by this, as this team definitely needs its 'Prometheus' character (not comparing the two, by the way, except in the needed role they seem to fill in their respective teams). Adem Different is becoming a very interesting character.

But, I also enjoyed how you, as the writer, reached some basic logical conclusions on your own (i.e. the undead using Matthews, his lack of military expertise on the battlefield, etc.). Very, very impressed with this. Nicely done.

I really enjoyed the Adem/Ozzy bits. Done any other way, and it would come off as sappy. But, not only did you craft with enough realistic atmosphere and dialogue (dialogue being one of your strongest points), I also detected the hint that Adem is attempting to find and cultivate the proper cultural expression for situations like this. Well done, indeed.

Well, I probably will not add anything today. It's my birthday and I'm going to be lazy. And very drunk.

So, everyone get out there, and write for my own amusement!!

Huh. Turns out I fucked up.

My apologies to all.

This is what happens when you rush a post right before you have to leave the house for dinner, so you just guess where everyone was instead of actually checking...

Aside from the fucking up, I think that the idea of the city of red Archers was a good idea, even if I had to rush a conclusion for it, to realign the story.

In fact, I think we are doing an incredible work, but to be even more good, we should pay more attention to the lgic of the story.

The run away of Brianna was a good idea, but that should have opened up a turning point for the story. She could have been captured, or she copuld have stumbled upon the opposite faction of the civil war. Instead, nothing of importance happened, and that makes less significant that move.

The attack to the city of red archers gave meaning to that part, more than if they simply returned back to the camp, IMO.

I was just itching to write a fight scene in a blacksmith. If you hadn't come along and told me I fucked up, I would have... now I'm told my posts actually have to make sense! This isn't what I signed on for.

No Danny, like always I am not able to express my feeling properly.

First, I said that writing the discovering and the attack to the Red Archer city, IN MY OPINION you did a better job than Doc, that wrote the Danny subteam returning so soon to the camp. So, for me, your posts MADE a lot of sense (not counting the fact that you didn't get that they were back at the camp from the previous post).

Second, I am saying that everyone seems very concerned to the quality of characterization, and that is good, but no one has ever expressed the same concern for the quality of the stories. For example, the need to have the heroes findings problems and maybe temporary defeat before becoming able to win the day. I am not saying that we HAVE to do thing in one way or the other, just that not just the characters do the story, but also the events. We could care or not, like we could care or not for characterization.
Said that, I am sure it is important also for you, or you wouldn't have proposed to do a story told backward.

Yeah, that's totally my fault. I always feel weird about doing anything too plot-changing. It's stupid, but I still feel like the newbie, and I feel weird taking so much control of a story. I'll try not to do it again.

You've been writing with us... how long? A few stories at least. (Issue #12, I believe, was your jumping on point, if I'm not mistaken.) I think that disqualifies you from 'newbie' status. You write like an equal. We treat you as an equal.

So, consider yourself an equal. You have as much say about what happens in these stories as anyone else. Don't forget that.

Doc's been working on a new avatar for me. It's a photoshopped pic of Dave Batista as Grimm (see Heroes and Legends: Vanguard thread, HR movie thread, etc.). This is what he's got so far. Thoughts?

Act one of my solo Vanguard story is finished. I am now moving into act two, which is already half written and shouldn't take as long.

I haven't written too much in WOD lately, in part due to being very busy with external things and in part due to being unable to find a good opening for what I want to do. So, basically, I'll most likely just post when I see an opening. If my time frees up a little this week, I may have to make an opening, which will take longer, but. . .

FINALLY caught up on the story and added a couple of posts of my own.

I missed the battles, though...

Anyway, I had Mason make a proposal that the team split into smaller groups for information-gathering purposes. This could work out really well or really poorly, depending on what we do with it. I'd like to have it happen over the course of several weeks, if not months (story-time, I mean), in which each sub-team will establish themselves in a different part of the world and find out more about this "World of Darkness," while also gathering allies from among the people (for instance, the being responsible for rescuing them in one of Pro's posts). I also added a bit more about the dead being slaves idea which Euro brought up briefly -- we came up with the idea during a chat -- and I think it will make things more interesting if the dead are not the obvious enemy, here, but have genuine grievances of their own.

I didn't do anything with Zarch yet, so I assume he's still unconscious. Something should probably be done with that subplot before the kind of time elapse I'm proposing might happen. Will Zarch reveal himself, or will he not? I'm staying tuned to find out...

Oh, and if we do end up splitting into smaller teams and spreading out around the world to check it out, I want Mason Templar to go north to the land of the Giants (Jotunheim). He just seems so perfectly suited to go there, for some reason (especially since Erasmus is already Giant-sized), and I could write a kind of mythical epic with such an idea.

I think Zarch should stay unconscious (or maybe the Vanguardians could close his mouth, after he awakes), until Mxy will return from his holidays.

Chewy took the words from my mouth. I must say that you, CJ, showed a lot more freedom in writing in issue 12, your first (I loved so much your post about the underwate base, for example, or the native hunters), than in all the following issue.

Crappity hell-poo!

Last night I wrote this huge, awesome fight scene for when we got to the village, then my net connection died, so I told myself I'd post it first thing in the morning... then I log on to find it's been made redundant.

Cursed broadband cable.

Sorry... Is there a way to salvage it somehow? Maybe to take place between Pro's post and mine?

Anyway, I deleted my post and reposted it after Pro's. Makes it easier to read that way.

Hey, not you fault.

I may rewrite a tad and say that the red archers returned to the village some time after your post. It may not gel completely with your post, but what they hey. I hate wasting 7 pages in Word. If something in it contradicts your post, no disrespect to you is intended.

I'm glad I stayed up till 3 AM tonight and had a chance to read that. It's good... Or, as Chewy might say, it's DARN good.

Good thing you found a way to salvage that post, Dan.

Hope I didn't screw up anyone's plans with Vanguard surrendering and all (damned surrender monkeys!), but I thought I'd take the story for an interesting turn. This could be a good way for the team to gain more information before they free themselves (which will inevitably happen anyways, since Sam, Grimm, and Zarch are still on the loose, and our Vanguardians are very resourceful themselves).

I don't really have any plans for Lord Grayavale or anything, except that he's one of the nobility and the land-holder who owns the village that the Red Archers took over. He could be an ally or an enemy, who knows?

P.S.: Sorry, Ceej -- I just realised I made the cardinal sin of turning your character into a 'damsel in distress'... Next time I'll use one of the guys for that purpose. I promise.

But if you are just not sure if to post or not to post something you have in mind, the answer is: POST, POST!
