Dozens of red archers charged forwards at the Vanguardians. Danny stepped to the side as they came forward, trying to avoid the thrust of the pack of soldiers. He noticed out of the corner of his eye that the peasants of the village were disappearing back inside their huts, or escaping into the nearby forest. They weren't helping the archers. They weren't offering words of encouragement.

Danny gathered that the occupation of this village by the red archers wasn't exactly friendly.

Mason leapt off Erasmus brandishing Caliburn before him and ran at the soldiers. Priest followed, wielding the gun he'd brought with him. He fired a few concussive blasts into the fray, leaving some of the red archers on the ground and barely conscious.

Phil quietly slipped off the side of the bird.

"BANSHEE! DISTRACTION!" Danny yelled at Brianna. She understood immediately, and took off from Erasmus' back. Many of the archers took aim and fired at her, their attention taken away from Danny and the others completely.

She proved too difficult to hit. Brianna made for an incredibly agile moving target, and nobody could get a lock on her.

Priest ran to the left of the soldiers, ducking a few arrows as he went. Mason went the opposite direction, and deflected an arrow with Caliburn as he went.

They both ducked into nearby stone buildings. Soldiers followed after them.

Phil strode confidently through the centre of the village. He knew where each archer was, and what they were planning to do. He stepped softly to the left as an arrow flew past him, then ducked a few inches to avoid another. A calm smile could be seen across his face.

Priest found himself inside a blacksmith's workshop. He smiled.

"It's hot in here..." He said. He walked through the building, absorbing all the heat energy he could. An arrow smacked his shoulder ineffectually, and a soldier charged at him. One swipe with the back of Priest's hand left the soldier unconscious on the floor.

He heard the other archers spilling through the doorway after him. He grabbed a freshly made axe from the wall, then spun around and hurled it at the doorway. The blade sliced through a man's shoulder, while the handle smacked another in the face. They both fell to the ground.

Priest leap over an oven. It still gave off intense heat, which he savoured. It seemed a blacksmith had abandoned his post midway through working.

Priest grabbed an arrow from mid air and hurled it back the way it came.

On the other side of the village, Mason Templar found himself in what seemed to be a tavern. A makeshift bar and chairs had been constructed from logs, and kegs littered the floor around him. Mason wished he had a chance to stop and stretch his legs with a nice tankard of whatever was in the kegs.

He took a huge wooden bench and threw it across the doorway, watching as some of the red archers were cut off at the legs and stumbled over the huge wooden blank. Mason then upended the bar and stood behind it, protected from the arrows that struck the exposed side of the wooden bar with a loud thunk.

Danny, meanwhile, was finding the soldiers easy pickings. His hands bore claws and he wielded a strong poison, and he merely walked up to a soldier and rendered him unconscious.

All of the red archers who were currently outdoors had their gaze towards the sky, trying desperately to get a shot at the winged woman who was proving to frustrate them all.

Brianna would duck and dart through the sky, distracting the soldiers. Danny would sneak up behind them and knock them out. The two were making a good team.
