Personally, I think Ellen Degeneres is a bit overrated. I remember when she hosted the Grammy's in '96 and '97 and the audience was dead silent.

She was great when she hosted the Emmy's in 2001, but of course she had great material to back her up (that was the show that was pre-empted because of 9/11).
