Steiner getting buried was more of a reaction to Vince spending a good bit of money to bring him in, and he couldn't wrestle anymore. Steiner was getting booed at house shows for poor performances. There was no way that Vince could let him have a push, though they tried with the quickly retired feud with HHH.

Honestly, I think Golberg buried himself with his lackluster performance in the ring (they had to pipe in Goldberg chants for Gob's sake) and his attitude backstage. I think it was said best after Jericho taught Goldie a little leason on locker room etiquette, "I don't think Goldberg realizes that the whole business is a work."
