I got this from DarkHorizons.com today, what does everyone think?
quote:
Britain's Guardian newspaper has picked up the AICN story from the other day and confirms that Director Darren Aronofsky says that George Clooney is to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader for a second time, and "there are no major casting changes". A US $15 million paycheck is also expected to be handed over to the actor.

I didnt care much for Clooney in the last one at times his performances are tolerable though.

As long as Jim Carey aint in it and it is campy it may be allright.

i think that clooney is actually an EXCELLENT choice for batman. he's tall, pretty built, and, damnit, good lookin! and, with the mask on, he really looks like batman!

the only reason batman 4 sucked so hardcore, is cuz of the script. its not his fault.

anyway... i dont buy into any of these batman 5 rumors, even if they DO come from reliable sources.

there are so many frickin rumors, its disturbing. one source says it'll be clooney, then there are sources saying they want ben affleck to play batman in a year 1 scenario, then they have keanu reeves trying out for a batman beyond live movie (with a really old looking keaton as bruce), then people are saying that the guy doing the onstar commercials will pick up the role.

even beyond that, there's all the rumors of who is writing the script, from rucka, to gale, to miller, to the matrix bros... its just too much.

ill wait til i see it!

Kassanova, Clooney may "look" the part but his acting skills leave something to be desired.

If that rumor came from AICN (Ain't It Cool News), I would take it with more than a grain of salt. That fat fanboy Harry Knowles is widely regarded for his comic-related Hollywood news, but much of it is rabid fanboy speculation with no basis in fact. Honestly, I really don't think WB would bring Clooney back, as they would want to distance themselves as much as possible for the colossal failure that was Schumacher's Batman and Robin. Like Clooney or hate him, I wouldn't believe a word that came from AICN.

clooney is actually a really GOOD actor. good on er, good in 3 kings, good (supposedly -- didnt see'em) in those two movies this year, the perfect storm, and the .... other one about the hicks...

tommy lee jones is an award winning actor, and he came off like ass in a shumacker film, also (part 3).

its all the creative staff's choice as to how the final product plays out. they wanted the corny look, and, damnit, they got it!

i also wanna point out that the movie DID gross over 250 mil, world wide, and 42 mil in its usa opening weekend... hardly a failure.

sure, it sucked ass, but... hardly a failure.

Yeah Rob, they grossed that much, but only becuase crazy obsessive fans like all of us went to see it, knowing full well just how bad it was gunna be. I don't know if they (WB) can count on that again though, because we all got so badly burned with Batman and Robin.

C'mon you know we'll all go and see!

How is Tommy Lee a good actor?
I dont see it.....
But he did suck majorly as Two Face.
At best Clooney and he are fair actors.....
They have never played anything were one would say....he really pulled that off...that role had to have Clooney/Jones to play it. Every role that I have seen them in could have just as easily had a number of equally or better talented actors.

tommy lee won a whole buncha awards, most notably, for his work in the fugitive (tho im not sure).

clooney did a great job in ER, consistantly! and, i really liked his part in 3 kings (which is a pretty cool movie, btw). never saw the perfect storm, but have heard nothin but good stuff 'bout it.

however, even if you dont want to go to the extreme of sayin they're great, or even good actors... they're still infinitely better than batman & robin and batman forever made them out to be.

B&R, simply put, was an abysmally bad movie. It was so bad, it made WB reconsider projects like the new Superman movie and Batman 5, which allegedly was in the whole scripting phase when B&R hit the theaters.
I'd have no problem with another movie, as long as it is done in the vein of the first movie. Even the seconds one was mildly acceptable, but to me, the first one was the best of the bunch. by far.

Agreed.

Clooney has admitted that he realizes he destroyed the Batman movie franchise.

I don't believe it.

Clooney was on David Letterman's show back when Arnold was running for governor. Dave asked Clooney if he knew Arnold. Clooney looked so painfully embaressed, and said "we buried the Batman franchise together."

I have never seen such honest shame and embaressment on anyone's face as I did on Clooney's.
