I'm asking for trouble with this, but... How can you guys actually watch pro wrestling? Out of sheer boredom, I decided to watch a few minutes. Stuff was awful. "The Un-Americans"? Waving the flag upside down? Damn, guys, why don't you just go into the crowd and piss on them, and then they'll *really* know you are the bad guys! What's the encore to that? Burning the flag on the anniversary of 9/11? That segment had to be the weakest writing that I've seen for a program...ever. Is wrestling usually that horrid?

The worst comic that I ever read couldn't even come close to that. And I'm talking about a Devin Grayson written comic, too. ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

so yer fine with superman returning from the dead.... just because?
or the fact that no super villain has ever been put to a stop, in decades of super villainy?
or the fact that ... well... anything happens in comics?
its justa form of entertainment.
no one takes any of it seriously, or anything. its justa chance to relax and sorta lose yerself.
its fun.

It never should have happened to begin with.

I think all superheroes should take the Punisher route, but I know it will never happen.

I know what you're trying to say, but the whole idea and execution was so terrible. Couldn't they have introduced some bad guys without them trying so incredibly hard to act like bad guys? That's really weak acting and writing. Dragging an old lady into the ring, and then beating her senseless would have been more subtle, and thoughtful.
Like I said before, I've watched my fair share of TV, and read my fair share of comic books, but nothing's ever sunk to the depths of that opening act.
And what's with Michaels (I don't watch wrestling, but even I know who he is) running "Canuck" smack? What is that, a set-up for a big war between the American and Canadian wrestlers? Brilliant idea guys, we all know how much Americans and Canadians hate each other in real life, not to mention the way the two governments fight with each other. It's right up there with the tension between Palestine and Israel.
I know nobody takes it seriously (at least I hope not) but c'mon, Rob, you mean to tell me that wrestling can't do a million times better than that?
No offense to you, of course. ![[biiiig grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) [ 07-29-2002, 10:10 PM: Message edited by: MisterJLA ]

well...
keep in mind, they do 2 shows a week. one of them (this one) is live.
there are 50 some-odd stars that have to have "new" stories, everyday.
they have to entertain an inhouse crowd of 20,000 while being viewed by a few million at home on tv.
and not only do they have to tell a "compelling" story, they have to act it out, both in dialog and then in combat.
shakespear, it is not.
but entertaining? absolutely.

Like I was saying before, the writing sucks. I can do better. For example...
Let's say there's this one character. We'll call him Jerk, the Jerk-Off. Jerk's a drug addict, and the years of abuse have corroded his brain. He's paranoid. He thinks everyone is out to get him, including the American government. He posts on the Internet, in an attempt to convert the non-believers (he also speaks of his ideas in the ring, before his matches.)
There's another guy, we'll guy him The Ultimate Pete Rose Fan Warrior. He likes to piss people off, through the Internet, as well as in the ring. He has some friends that help him out.
TUPRFW gets tired of listening to Jerk's babbling, so he picks on him. A lot. Jerk melts down, and challenges TUPRFW to a match, but TUPRFW just laughs and laughs at him.
Most of the viewers side with TUPRFW, but Jerk has a few friends, too. Anyway, after repeated challenges, Jerk just looks worse and worse, and TUPRFW wins again.
The end.

You really have picked a bad time to check out wrestling. Basically, the guy who owns the WWE has elimated all the competition and has now given up trying to impress the fans, he's only interested in payback and his own huge ego!

Oh, man, Grayson's Ghost Rider was perhaps the worst comic series I've ever read, almost as bad as Scott Lobdell's Gen13!
Who didn't love Doink and Dink? They're crazy antics were always a riot!
