If someone throws insults at you with the sole purpose of being an ass and to try and make you made, but you don't let it bother you, does that mean that person did nothing wrong? If two racists stand around making racists jokes that only they can hear, does that make it right?
Yeah, hurting someone's feelings adds to the wrong of it. There is still also the purpose of the statements. If you can joke about height, weight, race, religion, or whatever withsomeone without offending them or intending to offend them, that's all good. Because, Rob, we are not supposed to purposefully hurt other peoples' feelings or talk about them behind their backs to minimalize them as a person. Not because it's not the PC thing to do, but because it's not the moral thing to do.
