Ed noticed none of this. He stood at the edge of the roof, staring out at the expanse of sky that stretched out over the island nation of La Perdita. He raised his arms slightly to feel the cool breeze beneath his skin, then lowered them again and sighed. He closed his eyes and stepped onto the thin concrete ledge. He swayed forwards slightly, extended his arms, and held that pose for a moment. He then swayed back and stepped onto slightly safer ground. He lowered his head, and turned away from the painfully beautiful view. He headed for the elevator.
