With a name like Miss. X, there is always something else.

If Sam won't be able to fund everything, Grissom, Phil, and Leslie each have impressive funds from their work as mercs/bounty hunters. Leslie is well into seven figures, Phil into eight, and even Chewy isn't sure just how much Griss is worth. If Vanguard becomes dependent on any government or political system for its financial survival, they will effectively become that government's superhuman lapdogs. Financial dependence means you take your orders from whoever's paying you. It's always been the case on a small scale, but imagine how hellish that dependence would be if it involved politicians. It's what destroyed Bruce Wayne in Dark Knight Returns. That's what I disliked about the PSI-unit, and why I take any notion of subsidized superheroes with a grain of salt. No matter how nice an idea it is in comics and sci-fi, could any government be trusted to justly and ethically wield the power of such a group? I don't think so. Private funding: It's the future of space exploration. Why should Vanguard revert back to the past?

Maybe because that way they would be dependant from the private founders? And that while governement depends from the electors, and could be changed by elections, private multinational corporations don't respond to anything? Said that (with a jokingly, light tone - must I specify?), I confirm that I prefer if the founding come from people that the Vanguardians trusts (Sam, Griss, Euro itself) than from the island governement. But that would be a step further toward something different from the current situation, Sammitch: up to today, at last theoretically, Vanguard is a company whose actions should be directed to make money. With the new direction, they would be an organization which is founded to do "good deeds" on its complete autonomy. But I am sure no one would notice the difference, because basically that's what we have ever done, with a few exceptions. We would just recognize what the collective writing has wanted for the team. It's just semantic.

Is the thread closed? I wanted to make a reply but the reply button doesn't work, like when the thread's closed. If it's closed it doesn't matter, it wasn't anything important. Let's start the next one already.

Masterpiecely posted by Danny:
Ed noticed none of this. He stood at the edge of the roof, staring out at the expanse of sky that stretched out over the island nation of La Perdita. He raised his arms slightly to feel the cool breeze beneath his skin, then lowered them again and sighed. He closed his eyes and stepped onto the thin concrete ledge. He swayed forwards slightly, extended his arms, and held that pose for a moment. He then swayed back and stepped onto slightly safer ground. He lowered his head, and turned away from the painfully beautiful view. He headed for the elevator.
How can you be so good, Danny? You made me nearly cry.

Decided to post the Epilogue in the old issue anyways. I figured I could put it in the new issue but it doesn't seem to fit what's going on. I also added the second part which I came up with when I posted Max's flashback dream in this issue, but I wasn't sure if I should post it. I'm kinda being a hypocrite by posting it (you'll see why), but I decided I liked it and kept it.

Aye. I didn't start reading it until now cause the mistake I made with the MBL story was that I read most of it in a rush and I'm sure I missed a lot. I'm gonna take it easy with this one and read only when I have the time to do it well.

I have NO idea how to bring my character into this story, since neither possibility (Mason or Tim) would be in the building.

You can take over Leslie for now, since I'm pretty sure she's in there.

That's not an option for this character. Why would he be in the building? I don't plan on him actually becoming a member of the team, so he wouldn't arrive to apply. He's just the character I want to use for this story while Mason licks his wounds.

And what about the temporal powers the intruders had shown?
Maybe somehow the interruption of the temporal flow could have affected him, so he went to the source of the problem (assuming he was on la Perdita for his own motives).
Else, you could use the Time Trust Android, or Quantos (who could have returned after the previous attack). And what about Axel? This is not a mission, they have been attacked in their home. If Axel is there, no one could argue if he defend himself and help the others. And it could be the story where he prove to be useful to the team.

Glad you liked it. I knew you'd get it. But it's just the name, and besides I dropped the "Else". The name's just a little nod, nothing else.

That one was a stuffed doll. I would be alarmed if it was more than a nod.

The people mentioned in my post aren't necessarily the sole occupants of the building. Mason or Quantos could be in the toilet or something. I dunno.
Thing is- I can’t spell or type. I spell so badly my spell check doesn’t even know what I was trying to spell. And I have five Eisners HAHAHAHHA!!

I just figured he'd be sad without his wings...
I'm glad you liked it. I'm always worried about how other people will react when I use their characters like that. Thanks for the compliment.
