Just as a clarification about Icarus after that last post: he doesn't necessarily lack confidence in the abilities of his teammates so much as he is extremely over-confident in his own. He's also not the typical two-faced pretty boy who's all talk and no follow-through.
However, he
is a typical young hotshot who's so convinced of his own superiority that he doesn't realize why another person might be needed. Hence, his outburst in the briefing room. Basically, he's an oblivious asshole who is so engrossed in himself that he doesn't even realize he's offended anyone.
