I suppose they could advertise through, you know, advertisements. Do non-fans suddenly decide to watch games because they hear players spout cliches like "it was a team effort," "I'm here to win games" and "you gotta go out there every day and give a hunnert and ten percent"?
I already understood the league's explanation just fine, and I still think it's a silly rule.
