Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I would like to take this time to remind everyone of the upcoming Kampie awards...

Also, if I'm not online in the next few days, it's because Charley and Bonnie are hitting land by Friday. Me and the roommates are preping now for the upcoming storms. Cowgirl out.

Regarding characters and such.

Tayden is in Haven. You'll see why, eventually.

Dr. Huerta has accepted a position with the MRC in London, taking the B Teamers(Bates and Luchadore) with him.

Blackwulf is. . .somewhere else.

Posters and such.

Danny: Fantastic wrapup. You handled it all very well, and I look forward to seeing what you do next.

Mxy: I'll miss you and your characters, but I understand and look forward to that story of yours.

TTT: Rama Avatar? Veereee eeenteeereesting.

Jackie: Nicely done!

Euro: Very impressed. You've done really well in this story. I suggested a Da Vinci style Raptor? I don't even remember that. . .Well done, regardless.

I admit, I'm impressed as hell as this branch of Vanguard seems to be undergoing it's next phase and seems a natural, organic one. Kudos.

Great work everyone! I'm going to be sure to take a more active role in the next issue. Identify will still get done, don't worry. I just want to be able to get involved in all this new stuff that's happening.

Ceej - way to resurrect (if only in quotation) one of my few truly brilliant moments, especially one from something as obscure as State of Mind! I may just have to go back and finish that now!

Danny - awesome stuff all around. This is why I write with you guys.

TTT - nice work with all the characters, as usual. Never saw my character drunk. Didn't know if such a thing were possible, as he didn't generally touch the stuff, but I think it's interesting. Keep up the good work!

Everyone else - yeah, you already know.

go.

If it's any consolation, I didn't picture him as flat-out drunk at all. More like a bit tipsy.

Euro, I think a better name for your epilogue would've been "How Euro Got His Groove Back"...

At any rate, well done. I liked the items Raptor picked up. Interesting...

Thanks. What it still lacks it's the proverbial big fucking mace, I am sure I found a "true" mythical one in some celtic legend once, but so far I wasn't able to recover that reference. The day I will, I guess the transition to my own version of Hawkman will be complete.

I found the mace, surfing hard the internet. It's not the one I knew about, but it's even cooler. And has given to me a reason to change the codename of Euro from Raptor to Thunderbird, a thing I wanted to do from some time, but I found no acceptable explanation until now.

Yeah, but it's also very cliche and overdone. This is different. Cooler. An unused variation on the theme. Well done.

Like Grimm said.

Plus, it's a mace, and not an hammer (although in some description it's a hammer with a chisel); Lei Gong was a mortal turned God, and not a God from the start, like Thor was; and there is the bird theme, that fit Euro perfectly. Also, the Thunderbird name ties Euro to native American mythology, a thing I don't know but I want to explore.

Well, an interesting bit of Native American myth you could use is that when the Thunderbird(s) flapped their wings, this is what made the thunderclaps sound. Just something that might be cool to use.

Cool but also deafening, I think. But an interesting thing nevertheless. I guess sooner or later it will come useful.

I still have said idea. I just don't know if it's still 100% valid... seeing as how so many alien races have cropped up in the universe since then...

Really?

I though the only aliens appeared in the Universe so far were: the Annunaki, which came from the past, and by now are extint; Adem race, and the other ones that he refers to, and that are from a very far part of the Universe (so far, he has not any hope to return there); the alien of "The end".

I am missing something?

I suppose it could be used, but I'd only have interest in the setup anymore. Beyond that... meh.

Explain what you mean by "meh" -- it's not exactly a standard English word.

It's not just the "meh".

"I suppose it could be used, but I'd only have interest in the setup anymore. Beyond that... meh."

What does it means? That you would be still interested to do a set up for the story, but you are not interested to do a following of that set-up? Like, so to speak, you have a cool idea for writing an invasion of alien forces, but then we should write the war to defeat those forces, and also we would end with a Earth very different from the one we have now, and you find that not interesting?

If that is the case, I agree completely.

When I introduced the idea of the two races in that very first post of the HR Universe, I was thinking more of Earth as a neutral ground for those two races, a place where they do "secret" manouver, like Urss and USA intelligences could have done across Europe during the sixties and the seventies.

My idea was that the presence of Hoods and Capes would have prevented an all out invasion, making Earth a ground for just spy aliens.

What are we have to wait for the start of the new story?

Mxy's characters leaving, Chewy's epilogue, Danny's introduction of his robot squirrel... anything else?

My idea doesn't necessarily regard the setup you mentioned. Basically what I meant was, I would be more than willing to start the story (i.e. - post the background information and start the ball rolling), but I don't really have too much interest anymore in how the conflict is resolved (unless some people come up with something really interesting). My original idea involved these two races being the major two alien forces in the universe - something that is no longer valid, but can be worked around. My interest, however, is not in the aliens themselves (they would be very much like humans in terms of their having little or no 'powers' to speak of), but with the nature of the invasion and what brings it about.

I don't want to post the idea I had three years ago here, but I'd rather do it in a story format. I suppose, if everyone is still interested in doing the invasion story, I could write a one-shot to set it up. Otherwise, we could drop it altogether or let someone else do it. Doesn't matter either way to me, truth be told.

You guys can decide. Whatever the group consensus is...

I'm forgoing my epilogue. Ceej did a much better job than I ever could, so I'm bowing out of an epilogue at present. So, just Mxy and Danny... and whomever else wants to post.

I am about to post an epilogue with the double scope of introducing a new character of mine for later use ( a Promethus/ Phantom Stranger type at the beginning of his career) and showing how I would interpret Vanguard "America" to make it stand very different from the very professional Vanguard Europe. what I wrote are Euro's words, so they are not gospel. They could be just a way to bugger off the Jack o' lantern.

I don't wanna write my epilogue before without reading what comes before in the thread, but I haven't been able to do that. If I'm stopping you from starting the new issue, just have them go away off-panel. Or, go ahead and close the thread I can ask someone to re-open it once I'm ready to write my characters out.

I guess we can just leave it open for when you will have the time to read and post it. I can't see a reason to why it should be closed.

And, besides, we have to wait for Danny's squirrel.

There will be no chance to have it joining at the beginning of next issue, I fear.

I just sat down and read the entire story of Issue #17, and I would like to say well-done to everyone involved. Exceptional teamwork and fun was had. It is evident in every post.

Danny, your masterpiece went off without a hitch. And you even tied up the DNA codes I gave you in H&L. I'm flattered. Excellent work man. Very, very well done.

Trust, I hate you for using the regeneration angle from DOCTOR WHO. I wanted to do that one day!! I'm curious to see where you go from here.

Euro. Thunderbird. I like the name Raptor better, but, I also like change and progression. And with the 'Thunder Mace', this will give the Eudulcore character an interesting new direction. I am anticipating some fun stuff from you.

I look forward to reading the next stories and see what you all come up with.

Now, I have to go read the Vanguard: Europe stuff and catch up...
