Look what happened in those years: the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Latin explosion, the teen pop explosion, Lauryn Hill, the Millennium, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, razor scooters, Star Wars Episode I, etc. Most of that stuff is no longer in the public eye.
