Quote: Is Dave effected by his daughter's birth? He would be a heartless man if he wasnt (waitaminute he IS a lawyer). C'mon Dave not the fact that your babies are girls but more the fact that your act of sex created something you love and care about regardless how much she resembles a toad.
A tree frog, damnit!

Dont you think that maybe even unconsciously you are effected by the depravity of the act of rape in comparrison to the fact that sexual intercourse with someone you love gave birth to your loving daughter?
Dr Freud, your couch is comfortable, but your prognosis is wrong.
Here is a deep dark secret which I don't normally reveal to people: I have a literature degree, and as part of that degree I had to study Marxist-Leninist literary theory (using literature as a tool for class oppression) and feminist literary theory (using literature to keep women oppressed). I have sympathies towards both types of literary theory, although I recognise their limitations as being skewed and overly sensitive tools of critique. That is where my criticism of IC comes from.
Philisophically speaking, I'm in a quandry: on the one hand, from a feminist perspective, the depiction of violence against women is simply another example of reinforcing the paradigm that violence against women is acceptable.
On the other hand, I'm a social nihilist (do whatever you like, as long as it doesn't harm others), which means that you should be able to write graphic rape scenes to your heart's content, if that is what gives you jollies, as long as you don't carry it out.
Being a father has nothing to do with it: as I have said, The Killer indulges in rape in Wanted, and I have no objection to that, in the context of the story, at all.
