And you were right.
Posted another interlocutory post, setting up the giant final fight, where the enemy will be revealed (altough I guess it should not be a surprise). After that, a conclusive post. So, just two more before the end.
And I swear, no more team-solo stories for me! Gah!

I have posted the penultimate chapter, and also found that I forgot to post how the heroes went from dead to La Perdita. I have rectified it.
I have also re-read (for the first time) the last posts, and found tons of gramatical errors, I will try to correct them later. Now I haven't just the time.

Euro, did you erase a post? I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. Anyway, I just read WHEN WE WERE HEROES for the first time. Damn good, man! I was really impressed with your knowledge and care for the MBL continuity. If Heroes and Legends is the JLA/JSA, then, When We Were Heroes is, no doubt, the JLA/Avengers of this new universe. Bravo.

he added to an existing post.
great stuff, Euro. loved it. Loved the standoff with Rypta and Grimm. Loved the unexpected appearance of "you know who." Loved the Vanguards shifting through alternate eras (some really cool variations there.). All the interactions between the two groups.
I do have two MINOR complaints: referring to Grimm as a meta in the story. It should be very clear: Grimm does not have the metagene and is not a metahuman. His powers are mystically based. Also, Grimm couldn't crack the table, but Ozzy could? Grimm is far stronger than Baxter, and would have shattered the table. . .
but like I said, minor quibbles. Overall, a really fun story and I was excited to see you return to it.

You make me blush.
"When we were heroes" is the story I originally thought for a Revolutionaries/TOMB crossover I would have proposed as a group story. Seeing that the TOMB posters were very few, and after having talked with Chewy and others, I changed my mind and never posted it. Then, after H&L came, I had so much fun, that I though to resurrect my original idea, using the original MBL in place of TOMB. And that, I think, was the good move, as they incarnate, much more than TOMB, what I think many of us thinks about the "final step" for the evolution of our team of heroes.
As for what I was talking about, in the post following the Vanguard-MBL post, I forgot to past the first paragraph, where Pro X ressurrect the dead Vanguardians/MBLeaguers.

Thanks again. I would have had much more time to write parallel versions for each Vanguardians, but I made a point with myself to complete the story being faithful to my orginal planning and without spending too much time over it. I have a big load of work, so I must control the time I spent over the stories. Yet, I am in a writing mood right now, and I can't detain myself from it.

About calling Grimm a meta, it's just a plain mistake. I DO know he's not, but that slipped in my writing frenzy. About the table, my idea was to have the table breaking "slowly", under the eyes of Kit. Grimm should have started it, and then one blow after another blow from many character, in the end it should have broken up. I forgot it while writing, so I had just Ozzie slam to crack it. Look at it this way: Grimm did a "controlled" hit, that just weakened the table; Ozzie, although less powerful, was much more enraged, the confrontation having heated up, so, with his blow, he cracked it.

By the way, I would have written this thing in Italian. It's so frustrating when I come up with an honestly good story, and then the fight with the language forces me to cut the dialogues, lessens the character interaction, costs me to use repetitive words and phrases.
But I am very happy you liked it.

If everyone would be interested, I have come up with a possible idea for a plot to this story.
That is, if everyone is interested.
I warn you.....it would involve going to Haven at some point.
If you aren't interested in doing it, you won't hurt my feelings by saying no. Just tell me yay or nay, either way.
Understand, I'm still not quite sure I want to do it yet. I'm just throwing it out there ahead of time to poll the opinions of the group. I'll get back to you between Thursday and Saturday....

We do have a plot already, though -- the isle and that which is going on there, including the reason the strange stuff is happening -- and I think it's pretty cool. I'd be all for your plot, Pro, if it wasn't for this current plot already in progress. Can it wait until the current one is resolved?

They could be similar, but there is a definite end to the current "madness" going on in the story, and it's cool. Very cool, just trust me. If the Haven stuff can work with that, it may be OK.
Pro, maybe we should talk this over in a PM -- we can exchange information to see if the two plots can work together.

Like TTT said, if Pro's plot doesn't include an explanation for which they ended up in the future from the cave, I'd go with it.
Me and the TTT had though of a very basic idea for what could (could, not should) happen in the story, but I would happily discard it for something coming from Pro's mind.
Plus, it's been always a goal of mine to go to heaven.

Okay, after much thinking, I've decided to withdraw the idea. I mean, we can still go to Haven if you want. That's cool. If there is something about that other dimension/world you want to explore, cool. Go for it. Take us there. But, the original idea/plot I wanted to do just wouldn't fit for this group, nor would it be something I really want to do now. And, besides, you said we already have an idea of where this is going. Well, go ahead and do that. I'll follow. I certainly do not want to walk into this story and take it down paths no one wants to go. I appreciate the willingness, either way.....

The Time Trust said: Chewy: Good post, but one thing I forgot to make clear to everyone is that Caliburn no longer has an enchantment which causes technological things to stop working whenever its owner is in danger, as of the last story. The energy-null enchantment was cancelled out by one of the soldiers from the future, and it never returned. So the sword is now just a sword -- an invincible sword, yes, but with no other perceivable tricks.

Hey, it was really just an off-the-cuff idea. But, then as I began to think about it, it grew bigger and bigger in my head. I just don't think, with such a small, tight, personal group, that it is the best time to do the story I had in mind. I mean, it took place in Haven, for heaven's sake! Of COURSE it was going to be too huge! I have also recently become very aware that, perhaps, I guarded the Order concept and Haven too closely to my heart. I kind of kept it away from everyone, without giving you the option to play in it if you wanted. Thus, like I said, if you want to take the group to Haven, please do so. If there is some idea, or plot-point that would help by having access to that corner of the universe, then, by all means, go for it. (I for one plan on writing a scene with Grissom, Greystoke, and Brianna one day. A really uncomfortable 'stuck-in-a-room-with-my-one-time-lover-and-current-girlfriend'-type scene. One day. Hilarious.) The only character that is in Haven right now, that I have no control over, is Grimm. And, that's all his call, not mine....

Pro, when I said that one of my goal was to go to Heaven, it was just a joke. (When I am dead, I want to go to Heaven, not to Hell).
From a writing point of view, I am sure that a Vanguard/Order story NEEDS to be huge, so I understand the current team is too small for it.
Kudos to Brute Force for how he reintroduced BF in the story. That post captures perfectly the mood of this story.
Pro, will your mysterious character join the fray?
