Help Euro and Robo-Squirrel (assuming he comes to) with the T5 robot(s). But, like BF said, no ending fights in one post, Philsy!

Pro: Like I wrote in the PM I sent to you before reading the new posts, I am certain that the current Vanguardians could have handled even the ex-Vanguardians, if used at their max power and, more than else, having them working TOGETHER.
In any case, I am not complaining, as I believe there is beef for everyone.
Just wondering: why people seems interested only in writing fights, but don't want Vanguard transformed into straight superheroes?
At this point, I make a provocation: why don't we bring Vanguard, in the time of, let's say, one year, to take the place of the Strikeforce as global superheroes? That way, we don't have to conjure up stories to got to write fights. we simple have baddies doing the works, and our heroes going to beat them up.
Thougs?

Since I firmly believe five vs eight was not fair, i added three from the Vanguardian rogues gallery. I especially hope that the appearence of Jia could give CJ inspirations to post in this story.

I added it especially for you, even if I am not sure that he survived the fight with Chance in the Lost City of the Dragon story. But I have no time or will to check.

An observation: Fight scenes seem to be the new character centric sub plots. I blame the Australian.
It is interesting that fight scenes seem to be generating the most posts these days. I've wondered about this myself.

I advance a possible answer: everyone is so concerned not to scramble any supposed plotted plan from other writers, that feels at ease only writing the unavoidable big fight.
In defense of Danny I should add that when I won my own resistance and wrote an hell of a fight in the When we were heroes solo story, I had the most fun since thetime when the Revolutionaries dressed like Santa and elves in Thunder City.

Speaking of which, aren't Johnny Omicron and the Scorpion Bros. dead? I specifically remember Raptor lopping Omicron's head off.
By the way,

How is it Leviathan can be there when it's clearly established in Next Step that he's living under the streets of Manhattan? I don't want to hear any business about the MBL Leviathan being a clone either, Chewy left me him along with the PIT characters when he left the writings for a time and he signed off on their use in the MBL story.

Omicron was resurrected in the Odyessey solo story.
This Leviathan could be a clone, not that one (but there isn't another one in the Castle of Destiny, with a stange dual appearence?), and about the two Scorpions I think T5 resurrected them in one of his solos...
Let's fight them, in the meantime I will do some researches...

Well-played, Euro! I would rather have villians against the Vanguardians than ex-Vanguardians. Good stuff. Danny, I absolutely laughed my ass off! You are brilliant, and love your stuff, you grouchy little shit. Write more soon. Chewy, nice adaptation. TTT, nice to see you cameo in the Talk Thread to give writing and character pointers. Meanwhile, we'll be writing the story without you. Now, will someone please clue me in to Jia? Meta-spider? Spiderwoman? Thanks...

Thanks. I appreciate that.
I knew that squirrel was up to something!
Seriously, the squirrel was just a one line joke to amuse Euro. Then it was a character for a couple of posts without an origin or anything that I'd get sick of in a week. Then the little bastard grew a story of his own.

Pro--
Jia's a meta-animal like Brianna (meta with animal DNA). She's a spider from the navel down (think Shelob a la 'Return of the King'), and a Chinese girl from the waist up. Her saliva's deadly. Last time we saw her, she had chewed off half of Mason. So she might pick Rama as a new target if she can figure out they're on and the same.

Well, as I hoped, having Jia in the story made CJ to post. I am glad everyone seems to like the villains I threw in. Probably I have made some mistakes (I didn't know Jia was in a EPS prison, for example) but I am sure there is a way to explain everything. Pro: writing in a story where you post in is an icnredible pleasure. The part about the cluds and the satellites was... poetic.

...oh...my....god.... Danny, you will be happy to know that I have just read your entire post, outloud, to a room full of people who include, but not limited to, Grimm and Doc. We are now clutching our stomachs in severe pain from laughing SO FUCKING HARD!!!!! ( seven!) Grimm said he wants to now have your babies....

Glad to know my character makes for such a great joke. Seriously, I get fucking mono, am stuck getting ready for finals week, and just plain don't have time to post in the main story, so you pick my character to make a joke of (screwing up all the work I'd been putting into his character lately) just because I'm not posting and you think it'd be cute? What the flying fuck is that? Maybe I'm overreacting, but maybe you could have picked a slightly better time to dick around with my character?

Phil, this is the exact reason we do this... because you take everything so fucking seriously. If you didn't spend so much time being so self-centered with your character, we wouldn't find need to do this... or maybe it wouldn't bother you. I said it to you time and again when we were rooming together and I'll say it again:
You are not your character.
Phil Smith the person and Phil Smith the character are two different people. Believe me, I know.
Danny's joke was, essentially, a joke on how you take everything so completely seriously with Phil. How, whenever you write him, Phil is unbeatable. Just because you think your character has to be the coolest person alive who has all the answers to every question known to man with no weakness (as long as you're the one writing him), doesn't make it so.
Egocentric writing contributes nothing to the overall story and doesn't build team dynamics whatsoever. It makes your character look good. You wanna know why Pro, Doc, and Grimm are good writers? They let every character shine - not just their own. Yes, there's a time and a place for that... but not every friggin' post.
It was a joke, Phil. A fucking joke. And, if you feel so badly about it that you're going to throw a hissyfit about it on the talk threads, then you need to shit or get off the fucking pot. Your call.
I'm grouchy now. Thank you.

For the record, I don't care that Danny wanted to have a little fun with my character. I was upset because I was just about to post and it derailed everything I wanted to do (with more characters than just mine).
I would also like to point out that there's a difference between showing a character is fallible and making that character into a pathetic loser. Note that if I did something like that with someone else's character (which I am always careful to avoid), people would be pissed off at me. The reason I don't do an incredible amount with other characters is because I am trying to be sensitive to what those characters' posters want and what they're trying to do. All I want is the same courtesy - especially when it's difficult for me to post regularly for whatever reason.
I don't have a problem with Danny having fun with my character(s) - he's done it before and I haven't complained. Danny is a talented writer and has written some of the funniest stuff on these boards. I just wasn't in a hurry to see anyone go to the greatest length possible to make one character completely useless and pointless.
Try to see this from my perspective. You say I'm too attached to my characters - which I'm not denying - so you go about solving the problem by doing what you know is gonna upset me? If you really want to help me become a better writer, keep doing what many of you have been doing - set a good example through your own posts and keep giving me pointers without making me (the poster) look ridiculous.
I shouldn't have to write like someone I'm not to be accepted or taken seriously here. Nobody else does. I've been trying to change the way I do things, and I feel I have been. Why can't you let me keep learning on my own without throwing my mistakes in my face?

It's called being flexible. I can't count the number of times I've had to change something I wanted to do because someone else got to posting ahead of me. You learn to deal.

If you don't post with other people's characters, how can you be expected to grow as a writer and be seen as anything other than egomaniacal?
You don't know exactly how to write a character? Send a PM! I'm sure that any writer here would love to help you find a way to write their characters correctly, because - believe me - they want you to get their characters right as much (if not more) than you do. Don't be too proud to ask questions. That's how you learn.

It's in the eye of the beholder. If you read VE stories, you'd know that almost this entire current story has been people making fun of one of my characters (myself included) - possibly to the point of his being considered 'useless'. Am I complaining? No.
Phil falls down. He misses a few shots. He gets hurt. Oh, no! He's the biggest loser ever! Shame on you, Danny, for being so mean!
I seem to remember you being pissed off at TTT for writing Phil in a less than sterling light a number of issues ago. We tried to tell you then what I'm essentially trying to tell you now.

How is Phil's failure to perform making you look ridiculous? It doesn't. It makes your character look less than perfect. Heaven forbid. Why are you so upset? Because you can't tell the difference between the real world and make believe.
Quote:

Where? When? Show me proof of you not making Phil (or Leslie or Fisher) the star of your posts. I don't think you can do it.

As I said before, you don't learn on your own. You learn by asking questions, which I don't think you've been doing since you and I stopped rooming together. (Even then, you only asked me questions about Grissom or about some idea you had for Phil, Leslie, or Fisher.)
I'm not saying this to be outright cruel, Phil. That's not my intention. I'm saying this so that maybe it'll finally sink in that you're barely contributing to the group dynamic, but instead are only focusing on yourself. In fact, your entire reply was very "me" focused, Phil. It was all about not making ME or MY character look dumb. There are a lot of us writing here and if we all took a cue from you and focused solely on our own character... well, we may as well all be writing solo stories.
We're here to help you, Phil. Just ask!!!!

I will say up front that I have a great deal of respect for the character of Phil. He has great potential as a field leader/co-ordinator figure for the team. His development lately (particularly in the last couple of months) has been cool. I also genuinely like sammitch, the person who is not the character.
I was just having some fun. It was not my intention to maliciously mock Phil the writer or render useless Phil the character. I was making fun of a certain style of post. The post where one character shines above all the rest and saves the day while the rest of the team stands around. As Chewy points out, it's a sin you've been guilty of in the past, Phil. But it's not a sin that's restricted to you; several of the writers here (myself included) have been guilty of it in the past.
You know why I wrote it? I thought it'd be funny. That's all. Yes, I know your character has a defined set of abilities, a personality, a certain continuity. I respect that. I am also happy to throw all that out the window in the name of fun. That doesn't just apply to your character, it applies to every single character in the stories. Including mine. No, scratch that; especially mine. And if anyone here is going to hold that against me, boot me off the team now.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go kill off Robo Squirrel.
Thing is- I can’t spell or type. I spell so badly my spell check doesn’t even know what I was trying to spell. And I have five Eisners HAHAHAHHA!!

Danny, I am not upset with you. I've seen you do that with almost every other character. It's just that the incessant puking out of one's own guts tends to make one slightly irritable every now and then. Sorry I took that out on you.

First off, Danny, I have to say that that's the funniest fucking thing I've read in a long time. Kudos.
Secondly, Sammitch, take the starship out of Bitch Factor Five for a moment. Look at the story as a whole. Didn't Phil just get up from being knocked out and under mind control? Could that have any effects on how he'll react in battle just like what Danny had written? Think it out and find a way to work with it. AND WRITE OTHER CHARACTERS!!!! You'll never learn without trying. Oh, and Danny gets away with posts like these because he does them all the time and to his own characters.
Personally, I feel that anyone who hasn't been actively writing for some time has no reason to bitch about his/her character is used in a post. At least everyone else is using them instead of letting them just drop by the wayside.
And, now, for the most important bit of information you've read all day: I need to pee.
Good day.

In all fairness, Phil's illness should get him a "not writing in a while" free pass.
And thank you, Doc, for the kudos.
Mxy: I would never think of having someone else's character slip on dogshit and fall down. That's just disrespectful.
Thing is- I can’t spell or type. I spell so badly my spell check doesn’t even know what I was trying to spell. And I have five Eisners HAHAHAHHA!!
