For the record, I don't care that Danny wanted to have a little fun with my character. I was upset because I was just about to post and it derailed everything I wanted to do (with more characters than just mine).

I would also like to point out that there's a difference between showing a character is fallible and making that character into a pathetic loser. Note that if I did something like that with someone else's character (which I am always careful to avoid), people would be pissed off at me. The reason I don't do an incredible amount with other characters is because I am trying to be sensitive to what those characters' posters want and what they're trying to do. All I want is the same courtesy - especially when it's difficult for me to post regularly for whatever reason.

I don't have a problem with Danny having fun with my character(s) - he's done it before and I haven't complained. Danny is a talented writer and has written some of the funniest stuff on these boards. I just wasn't in a hurry to see anyone go to the greatest length possible to make one character completely useless and pointless.

Try to see this from my perspective. You say I'm too attached to my characters - which I'm not denying - so you go about solving the problem by doing what you know is gonna upset me? If you really want to help me become a better writer, keep doing what many of you have been doing - set a good example through your own posts and keep giving me pointers without making me (the poster) look ridiculous.

I shouldn't have to write like someone I'm not to be accepted or taken seriously here. Nobody else does. I've been trying to change the way I do things, and I feel I have been. Why can't you let me keep learning on my own without throwing my mistakes in my face?

go.
