As I've acknowledged since Rama arrived. You're taking this the wrong way, Pro -- I enjoyed your post quite a bit and saw it as an homage to the eye-plucking scene(s) from said film.

Okay, fair enough, then. Honestly, I've seen the Kill Bill (s) only once, and therefore cannot truthfully say whether I was inspired by that particular scene, or simply thought it would be the most logical way my character would end the fight. It wasn't on my mind, though. But, hey, if you like it, you like it, and I appreciate the compliment....

I have to agree with Koala Hunter. I read the post and it reads as if you've finally begun to apply the things we've been telling you all this time. Good show, and keep working in that direction.

I'm gonna assume the TTT can do the Rama/Jia confrontation during the clean-up. But, I'm bored now and - to be frank - I'm on a roll, so I'm gonna post...

Finished off the fight with T5, leaving the final showdown with Merlin, the clean-up, and the arrests of X-Acute and Jia to someone(s) else. I think I'm done for the day...

Please, leave me and TTT the next two post, then there will be the usual two pages of epilogues for everyone to advance the soap operas (and for Newguy to make presentations).

Nice pick-up on the RoboSquirrel, Chewy. Honestly, I would have just left RoboSquirrel's consciousness absorbed into the T5 robot, and let that be the Squirrel's new body. Robo-T5. Get it? Get it? ....me either.....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND I've finally postied.
BTW, I do intend on having Rama confront Grissom later on in the story over the Brianna situation, as he has his own very personal reasons for opposing what he sees as this womanizer's seduction of an innocent young girl, even more than simple fatherly overprotection. There's a method to his madness, so don't nobody write it for me, 'kay? Thankya.

Chewy and Pro, thanks for the comments.
Dan's not really part of the main story, so I don't write big action posts with him. I just take a few lines to check in on him and see where he's at and hope nobody minds. Glad to see y'all are digging it.

“Goodbye.”
At that, Rama Avatar sliced off Jia’s head as he completed his sword’s motion. “Mother of lies,” he muttered under his breath.

It made sense before it. The point is, no one cares. Majority rules in a group environment. Danny, CJ, BF, and myself decided that it was bullshit for the work we had put into the beach scenes to be negated simply because two writers wanted to introduce a cosmic deus-ex-machina that no one had requested.
As far as I am concerned, the story continued from where Ed wakes up in the hospital with a head injury.
Majority rules, you see...

It was always the intention to end the story this way, with a new headquarters. Everyone knew that going into this adventure that I was going to wrap up the story.
Nothing's been negated. Let's talk about this, okay?

A concern of mine is that the group decided a little whiles back to set the stories on the island, where the team (for the time being, at least) were legally obliged to stay or the UN would smack them down. Now we can teleport anywhere in the world?

The new headquarters gives the team the option to go anywhere in the world if they need to -- beforehand they had no method other than by UFO or plane, which can be detected by satellites, sensors, etc. I have no problem with setting the stories on the island, as long as there's other options. The new HQ gives them that.
Besides, the UN ban is a temporary situation that won't last forever.

Sure.
I like the idea of using the new island as an HQ.
But, I think the idea of having a dimensional hub in our basement is dangerous in writing terms. It will lead to too many quick-fixes and easy-rewrites at the flick of a switch. It will cause lazy imaginations to fall back on writing cliches.
Whether you were to end the story or not isn't the issue. It was the way in which it was handled. The dimensional hub could have been introduced in a nice solo. We simply do not like our work being secondary to whatever you or Euro want to do in any given plot.
This is either a group effort, or, just you two writing your own stuff. I, for one, am not pleased to come back into the exact same crap that was here when I left. We need to do open plots that allow everyone to contibute material that is as evenly worthy as the next persons.

Also, why is every person in La Perdita so pretty? Why do we see no fat, ugly, or disabled people populating the background? It's not realistic. It's everyone's fantasy notion of what an ideal tropical island would be like.
I quit.

How can I explain?
The dimensional hub thing couldn't honestly have been done in a solo, because it was central to the team's future. The entire story was a setup for a new headquarters, one which the team can choose to accept or deny. It's not physically tied to the small Dawson Isle, though -- it's not physically tied to any one place, since it's accessible to the team from any doorway.
Just think about it:
The team can each live in their own homes, spread out amongst the island, but they can hold a meeting at the drop of a hat as long as they have the key with them. And they can return to wherever they were just as easily.
Are there limitations? Sure, we can think of some right away, if need be. It would be too easy to use the new HQ as a way to break into any place at any time, but for obvious reasons there should be some kind of limitation about that. Perhaps the HQ can only open a doorway in a "general area" -- say, Tucson, Arizona... but it can't open a doorway to a specific address.

OK, based on a recommendation by Euro in a PM he sent me, I think I'm going to have to postpone my issue until #19. My social life has been fairly busy the past few weeks, and I just haven't been able to write the setup post the way I want to (and I'm a perfectionist, dammit -- it has to be perfect).
It would be nice to have a "non-story" kind of story again, taking place entirely on La Perdita. I'll write something short to start things off, but this is essentially a "plotless" character-based story. If we want to introduce a plot later on, that would be okay, too. But for now let's just have fun exploring the island and the current dynamic of the team, shall we? Maybe this will have less pressure than a "real" story to write...
Quote:
IMO, we should get to focusing on the characters for now rather than the "team paraphernalia" such as headquarters, equipment, transport, leadership, et cetera. We can deal with that stuff later on; it's not as important.
