The Cubbies look pretty damn good...and Sosa hasn't even been in the lineup! When he's back, and the weather warms up in Chitown...watch out, non-believers! ![[biiiig grin]](images/icons/grin.gif)

I do think that this year could be the year, though they'll probably have to win the division to make it; the NL East has too many strong teams and will most likely get the wildcard.
If Kerry Wood could stop falling behind in the count on batters so often, he'd move into elite status as one of the premiere pitchers in the game. Since he's a local product, I've always been a big fan.
Corey Patterson seems to have really come around as well. Along with Hee Sop Choi and Mark Bellhorn, the Cubs are slowly building a solid, young lineup. I only wonder what's happened to the other heralded young Cubby, Bobby Hill.

As a Diehard, I gotta say I'm excited.
But, as a Diehard, I gotta prepare for the letdown.
"Cubs v. White Sox, a Windy City World Series, Game 4, bottom of the ninth, tie ballgame. Sosa up to bat. He pounds his chest and points to the bleachers, the famous Babe Ruth calling. The wind-up, the pitch. Sammy swings! Homeru---."
The world implodes.

There was something similar in a letter to Sports Illustrated.
I can't see why people say Chicago fans are pessimistic... ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

The Great Ambivalence is scheduled for Sunday. Kerry Wood, my favorite pitcher(along with the Rocket) against my beloved Astros.
Sosa back in the lineup should give Kerry the run support that has been so ridiculously transparent his last few starts(3 runs scored for him in his last 4 starts!). Hopefully that'll be enough to earn him that ever-so elsuive 50th win.

There's nowhere you can run. They'll find you and force you to eat cork.
