My personal "Golden Age" of wrestling was the mid- to late-80's, watching Crockett Promotion's "World Championship Wrestling" and "World Class Championship Wrestling" back-to-back, from 10 to noon Saturday on one of the fuzzy UHF channels. I loved the Von Erichs, and their long-running feuds with the Fabulous Freebirds, Chris Adams and Manager Gary Hart's stable of guys. My interest in wrestling started to wane about the time Mike killed himself, and really didn't reach the level of that time until Sting started his "Crow" bit. But I always tried to keep tabs on the Von Erichs, and was happy to see Kerry eventually carry the IC title in the (then)WWF.

Is Kevin the only one still alive? Does anyone know what he's doing now? I know both Kerry and the youngest, Chris, killed themselves also, and Fritz has passed too. So much tragedy for one family that entertained so many.

And now, for the Von Erich rundown...

Fritz Von Erich died in the late 90s of a Heart attack. Fritz was... well, he was a slavedriver. In many ways, he was responsible for the death of his sons because he was the one who pushed them to be wrestlers.

David Von Erich dies in Feb. 1984. His death was officially caused by "acute enteritis", but many believe foul play and/or drugs were Involved.

Mike Von Erich died in 1987, OD'ed. This was just after he had finally recovered from Toxic Shock Syndrome ('least, that's what it was reported to be).

Chris Von Erich committed suicide in September of 1991. He was the small, weakly, asthmatic Von Erich who wanted to be a wrestler, but his body prevented him from doing what he wanted to do. So he killed himself.

Kerry Von Erich died in Feb. 1993. In the year prior to his death, he was fired from the WWF for drugs, convicted of forging prescriptions, and a day after being indicted on a cocaine possession charge, he Shot himself.

Who holds the rights to the old "World Class" shows? I really jones for those hour-long Flair/Kerry or Flair/Kevin matches, or the 6-man matches with the Freebirds. Are there videos available anywhere?
