You have no arguement here. The way it is, it would be like if you got caught going 50 mph over the speed limit and they gave you a $50 fine, and I got caught going 3 mph over and I got fined for $75. Belle had all of his bats corked and got 7 games. Sammy had one and got 8. Where's the justice in that?

Sammy's already said that he'll take the punishment without bitching. MLB could have enforced it and said 'Sammy, you got caught, sit down for 8 games' but they wanted him on tv for the Cubs-Yankees series on ESPN to bring in the ratings. So they don't really give a shit. He's not appealing because he think's he's innocent, he's just doing the logical thing and trying to get his suspension cut back a game, which he did and rightfully should.

But what about an example to the kids?
Why is it always about money...I didnt here Sammy saying "no, no I need to sit out these games against the Yankees."
Im talking about the kids here dammit!!!

*nods* Fuck the kids. lol. Really, how does this damage 'the kids'? I don't know anyone from the age of 9 up who would see this and say 'Wow...Sosa had cork in his bat...dad..does that mean I should too?' and then have the father resapond with 'Yes son. Yes you should. God knows you need the extra four feet...' That's like saying video games and things they see on tv make otherwise good and wholesome kids violent.

This is a man that kids DO look up to.
He is not setting a good explain by fighting a punishment for something that he did indeed do...forget about what that other guy did! Someone who cares about the kids would have fought the MLB!

So he's supposed to roll over and accept a punishment that he feels is unfair? What kind of example is that? He admited his mistake and apoligized for it the day thatit occured several times. We all make mistakes, no one's perfect. He was man enough to admit his mistake...that's good enough for me. If all of his bats had been corked, I'm not sure how I'd feel, but they weren't so that adds a lot to his story.

Yeah, kids will be corking their aluminum bats from now on, it'll be horrible.

If Sammy didn't make the appeal, the league office would've for him so he could play the Yankees, anyone could see that.

And you're all forgetting the nature of the sport itself here. Baseball's history is filled with cheating. Nobody cares this much that guys like Gaylord Perry used spitballs. He's still in the Hall of Fame that has a "morality" clause. Any kid that follows baseball is following guys who set bad examples. Stop singling out Sosa as if he's killed someone and is telling kids that it's fun.

No wonder those kids in the Powder Puff hazing are suing their school!!!!

Yep, let's blame Sammy for everything that's ever went wrong in the country BEFORE he corked his bat. Personally, I think he should apologize for Pearl Harbor.

And shouldn't you be ranting about how kids shouldn't look up to athletes like this? Isn't it society's fault that Sammy's supposed to be a role model? Or do you just throw out the most random thoughts available and wait for bsams and Drzsmith to back you up?

I'd say those girls are suing their school because Latrell Sprewell successfully sued his team and his agent because he choked his coach, but it would confuse you since you don't follow sports. But somehow you're always in these sort of threads as if you're an expert on what happened. Funny how that works.

I'd say a 7 game suspension is a punishment. And if you knew anything about sports, every punishment is appealed, no matter what it's for. If you don't think that's right, blame everybody in sports, not just Sosa.
