I dont' think I'd assume they were normal people prior to 9/11 just because they didn't do anything before that. Whose to say that this isn't all part of Bin Laden's plan, to first attach the US, knowing we'd retaliate, then to get his supporters to attack throughout the world. I say world because it's not just the Middle East, as this thread is proof of that.
