Easy....
No one talks smack about the best Trek character of all time in MY presence! He didn't take shit from no one.
Bones was great. He absolutely made that fucking series. When I saw the title of this thread, I was like "Oh, crap...who's bought the big Beam-Out now? Scotty?"
DeForrest Kelley was a cool sonofabitch. Did you know he was married to the same woman for over fifty-years? He never sold out to the Hollywood scene, and never opted for a younger model like Nimoy, Stewart, and Shatner. He never pretended like he was anything more than what he was, nor did he ever try and make his character any more prominent than any of the rest. He was always perfectly comfortable in just being who he was, and doing what he was best at. Drinking whiskey and slapping Spock around!
DeForrest Kelley, is eternal. Cheers!

Am I the only one who thinks that, if they ever remade the TOS, Gary Sinise was born to play Dr. McCoy?

Excellent choice! He does look alot like old DeForrest. I'm surprised I never saw it before.
That's something I always wondered. If you were going to recast the original crew, who would you pick? It gets tough when trying to cast guys for Spock and Kirk.
Hmmm......I'll have to think on this one.....

As noted above, Sinise for McCoy, no question.
As for the others, off the top of my head:
Spock:
Michael T. Weiss, from "the Pretender."

Scotty: A cleaned up Billy Connolly:

Sulu: Jet Li

Uhura: Thandie Newton

Chekov: Any pretty boy who can do a Russian accent is fine
Kahn: No question, Antonio Banderas

And, finally, for Kirk:
The ever pompus, psuedo Shakespearean, Cary Elwes:

Damn good! Bravo! Man, I was racking my brain trying to figure out these roles, and you just threw it out without a problem. Good stuff. I, too, had come up with Antonio Banderas as Khan a long time ago. He seems to be the natural succesor to Ricardo Montalban. But, Elwes as Kirk is a stroke of genius. I would add someone like Matt Damon as Chekov. He's got the neutral look, and can actually do some acting. Plus, I'd throw Gina Gershon or Heather Graham in as Yeoman Janice Rand. What about Famke Jamesson (sp?) as Nurse Chapel? This is cool. I'd love to others make their own cast, as well...

Works for me, but he might be getting a little long in the tooth.

Heather Graham is perfect as Rand. She even looked the part in Austin Powers

A blonde Famke could look the part, but she always plays too tough for me to buy her as the perpetually introverted, lovesick, Nurse Chapel.
How about her Nip/Tuck costar, Joely Richardson?

Yeah, let's see some other choices.

Joely Richardson plays the porn star/jilted lover, right? That's not a bad choice. If you're referring to Shawn's wife, though... gawd, no.
Famke Janssen would make for a good Dr. Crusher if the entire Next Generation needed a recast.

I don't watch the show enough to know if she also plays a porn star, but, yes, Richardson plays Shawn's wife.
She can actually be quite cute in films where she isn't playing a housefrau on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Ah, sorry. The pictures wouldn't load for me originally due to some horrible internet problem.
The porn star/jilted lover is a different character from Sean's Wife. I thought she would make for a good stereotypical blonde nurse.
I can't see Joely Richardson as cute after seeing her ugly side on Nip/Tuck...

Man, I have never been to a convention of any kind in my entire life. I've always wanted to go. But, things have always held me back. Right now, this weekend, thedoctor and Grimm are at the Atlanta-Con meeting Peter Davison. And I didn't get to go!!!!! Arrrggh!! Oh well. Maybe next year. But, before I die, I've GOT to get a picture with a Police Box. The one with you and....Rufie?....slipping in is priceless! The Daleks will certainly win now....

I was at the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Con up here (Noreascon) and got the priviledge of being the first to hear Neil Gaiman read the first chapter (plus a little more) of his new book. I saw Terry Pratchett give a damn funnt guest of honor speech. A panel discussing and remembering Julie Schwartz and his contribution to the Science Fiction genre. A botched panel about the work (in and out of animation) of Chuck Jones. Neil Gaiman, Robert Scheckley, Simon Green, and others discuss the nature of the Monster vs the nature of the Villain and use Batman: DKR as a reference point. Very cool!
On Monday I'll see a panel devoted to the Flash Family. Great stuff!

Yeah, I know. But, I was hoping for a fake one, or something, SOMEwhere.

The lady and I boated the canals for about two weeks, starting in Preston Brook, working our way up through Ellsemere, Barbridge, Chester, and, on into Wales, to LLangollen. Beautiful fucking country you have! And, strangely enough, alot of cows, I noticed. Also heard that we missed Harrison Ford boating the same route by about two days. Heh.
Shooting the locks and all was fun, but, I think next time I visit the UK, I'm going to do the urban/commercial route. See London, Parliment, and all of that.
I will say this, your Guiness knocked me on my sad little U.S. ass. Our Guiness is so watered down compared to the stout you guys provide. Well done. And, cheers!
