their fate is undetermined.... its up to you to decide! (you?) you!

in a few weeks, we'll be starting a tournament of tv's greatest characters of all time. what i'm looking for now is help pooling a major list of some of the existing choices.

so, just plop down 10 or so characters you can think may be worthy of the title, along with the show they appeared on. after we collect a whole buncha names, i'll start up the tournament for the official selection process.

I don't care if someone named them or not....

  • Hawkeye Pierce (MASH)
  • Col. Henry Blake (MASH)
  • Dr. Frasier Crane (Cheers/Frasier)
  • The Doctor (Doctor Who)
  • Dr. Perry Cox (Scrubs)
  • Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Star Trek)
  • Chandler Bing (Friends)
  • Lucy Arnez (I Love Lucy)
  • Thomas Magnum (Magnum P.I.)
  • Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)

And, really, shouldn't a guy like Kelsey Grammar (Frasier) be in a catagory unto himself? He's, like, the longest running prime time character ever played by a single actor (Twenty years...with the finale of Cheers, the pilot of his own series debuted the exact next Thursday, in the same time slot, thus, there was never a break between shows).

I did write in there: 1st season.

Because the others were crap.

But the first season was brilliant, and so were the actors. Sure, Dean Cain wasn't a great Superman, but he was great as a modern interpretation of Clark. And John Shea's Lex Luther was outstanding. So what if he had hair? It's his interpretation of the character that kicked ass. They really fucked things up when they killed him off, and then came back in season two with a new writing team, and a new Jimmy. WTF!? Jimmy was perfect in season one. And Perry with "Great shades of Elvis!" That was great. They had a great formula. Much better than Superdawson.
