Anyone else still watching this? I thought last weeks episode was one of the best. Walt burning the boat ties into what I said earlier about him being a "guiding angel" on some sorts.

How is Walt a "guiding Angel"?

And yes, I'm still watching this show . . . haven't missed one yet and if I ever do, you'll hear my scream from all corners of the world . . . .

The guiding angel thing is a theory that I've heard several places on the net. The island is suppoesed to represent purgatory and Walt is an angel who is trying to guide everyone to to heaven.

Another great episode. I've been waiting for Hurley's flashback episode for a while. It was an interesting one. I thought they laid on the bad luck part too much though. I thought they tied the whole numbers thing together well.

Its too bad the next new episode won't be until next month.

I recently downloaded the episodes and after a few nights of watching I was hooked.

I do, however, fear that the show is starting to go downhill. The mystical stuff(as well as the revelation that there are others on the island) makes it somewhat convoluted, I think. Especially with Walt and his "powers". I was expecting it do veer off at some point, since there's really only so much you can do with a show about a bunch of people stranded on an island. Eventually, you have to create something new that keeps the show going.

The best parts of the show, in my opinion, are the flashbacks, because they give it an entire other avenue to tell the story through.

My favorite character is Locke. I thought starting out that he would end up being a badguy(probably because of the other roles Terry O'Quinn has had), but it seems like, despite the fact that he manipulates absolutely everyone, and clearly has some agenda entirely his own, the survivors all love the guy. I still have the feeling that, at some point, it's going to be Jack vs. Locke, and that Locke's slowly recruiting and reprogramming people to his cause(which isn't quite clear yet, perhaps it's to remain on the island, since it's where his "miracle" happened), fully aware of that impending conflict.

My least favorite character is probably Charlie. I thought he was going to be the comic relief, but he's really more like the annoying guy who makes all the other characters seem interesting by comparison. Frankly, I think it would have been better if Ethan had killed him off(though it was obvious that Jack had to save Charlie to redeem himself, given how that particular show started).

I also find Boone a bit grating. Not necessarily because his character is boring.....but because his fucking eyebrows drive me nuts. It's almost Scorsese like. I don't remember noticing them when he was on Smallville.

I'm holding off judgement on the mystical stuff and the others on the island until later. J.J. Abrams said in an interview that everything that has and will happen on the show is scientifically possible. I think Walt's powers are more a symbolic than "magical". I also think that can be said about any kid in most TV shows or movies. Kids are portrayed as innocents who are idealistic and always want to help others. I'm also worried about where the show will go once we know the backstory to everyone. I guess thats why there are 40+ survivors that we know almost nothing about. I have faith in J.J. Abrams that he will keep things interesting for a couple seasons.

I agree. The only problem is I lose interest in some of the characters once I know their backstory.

Terry O'Quinn is one of the main reasons I watch the show. The only other thing I've seen him in is Alias, which he also kicked ass in. I do think there will be a major face off between him and jack by the end of the season. I really don't know whats going on with how he was healed, and I really don't care. Thats another thing I will hold judgement off until later.
Also, when the new shows return next month the first one will be centered around him.

To me Charlie is the worst part of the show. At first he was one of my favorites, and I loved his backstory, but then he was used too much. I also think it was a huge mistake to not kill him when he was being hung. The show lost a lot of credit when that happened.

ABC family was showing the Smallville repeats with him in it at the same time his backstory was on Lost. I also think his eyebrows are extremely annoying, and his acting can use some work. As a character I find him alright, but next to his sister anyone can act well.

The DVD is coming out in September. At this point it will probably be better to wait.

Another thing about Charlie living is that even if Jack had gotten his heart started again, the way he was beating on him(for what felt like five minutes), he would have caved in his chest, or at least broken most of his ribs.

Oh, as for Tery O'Quinn, he's mostly done TV(X-Files, West Wing, JAG, Earth 2), but a few movies as well. The first thing I saw him in was The Rocketeer, when he played Howard Hughes.

New episode tonight!
From ABC:
Boone becomes concerned when Locke suffers physical problems while they try to find a way into the mysterious hatch. Meanwhile, Jack is reluctant to help when Sawyer starts to experience excruciating headaches, and Michael and Jin struggle to communicate while working together on the raft.

Yes. Some of the Alias episodes from season two were as good as that one.

So what do you think will happen? Do you think anyone is in there?

It would certainly seem that's what I'm supposed to think.

What concerns me more than whether or not people are inside it is what exactly it is. At first I thought it was another plane or sub or something that had been buried. Now I'm wondering if the hatch is a part of the island itself. Maybe the island is really a big government facility, and the sand, beaches and forests are its coverup. Area 51 in paradise.

Or maybe it's sort of a bigger version of Noah's ark, only made in anticipation of the nuclear wars, rather than a flood. Could explain the polar bear in the first episode.

I think it could be a government facility, probably some sort of testing facility. That would explain some of the mysteries of the show.

The polar bear came from a plane that was transporting animals that crashed on the island. I don't know if thats been said in an episode or not, I read it on a spoiler site.

Yeah they explained the polar bear in an episode.
I think Boone is going to die in the next episode. I'm also figuring on the doc buying the farm at the end of the season.

Did you catch what they said when Boone was using the radio? I always have the closed captioning turned on and it said the guy was saying there were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815(their flight).

Dang it! I liked Boone. Maybe he'll come back from the dead.

I think he's coming back for some flashback scenes.

I really feel sorry for the actor who plays him.
A couple years ago he was going to play Bruce Wayne on Smallville, but due to licensing issues, he couldn't play Bruce Wayne. He was still on the show, but as a different character. Now he was on one of TVs most watched shows, and they kill him off.

Damnit. Next new episode will be on May fourth. On the 27th of this month they will air a special episode that will be like a review of the season.

Also, some interviews came out today that talk about the rest of the season. Its nothing really big, but don't read any further if you don't want to.

Quote:

Early on, Jack found some skeletons and a pouch containing black-and-white rocks. Explain. ''The black-and-white stones have been a recurring theme in the show,'' says executive producer Damon Lindelof (e.g., Locke's favorite board game, backgammon, and the mysterious Black Rock). ''We know who those skeletons are, what their story was, and what they were doing with those stones. But that's a question we won't be answering this season.'' -- Sawyer's backstory intersects with the Jack and Shannon/Boone histories. Does his pre-island life converge with any or all of the others? ''No comment,'' says Lindelof. ''But we'll see, before the end of the season, why he popped up in Boone's flashback.'' - - Earlier this season, someone knocked out Sayid while he was trying to operate the plane's radio. Who did it, and why? ''You will find out within the next three original episodes, definitively,'' Lindelof says. ''They will find the person, and that person will confess to having done it.'' - - What's Locke's motive for keeping the hatch secret from the other castaways? ''His motive is revealed soon,'' says Lindelof. ''Everything Locke does he believes is in the best interest of everybody. That's all I'll say.'' - - Will Michael's raft set sail by season's end — and who will be on it? ''All I can say is, how much would it suck if it didn't set sail?'' asks Lindelof. ''Wouldn't you feel ripped off? I sure would! As to who is on it? Well, the roster ain't set. Yet.'' - - Charlie was hooked on heroin. Recently, Locke and Boone found heroin on a plane. Discuss. ''One of the things that has made Charlie's ability to kick the habit so easy is that he hasn't had any temptation,'' says Lindelof. ''Reintroducing temptation is part of our intent. The good news, for now, is that he doesn't know that the plane is out there.'' - - The lotto numbers: What the hell? ''Trying to find greater meaning in the numbers is the direction we are going to continue in for the rest of season 1,'' says Lindelof. ''Hurley doesn't know that the numbers are on the hatch — what happens when he finds out that the numbers are on the hatch should be interesting. Wouldn't you think?'' - - Jin worked for his brutish father-in-law; what exactly was his job title? ''He was the executive assistant in charge of finger breaking,'' jokes Lindelof. ''People always ask, 'What's Jin's problem?' There are a few missing pieces that will make it even clearer by season's end why he's acted the way he's acted.'' Source: Entertainment Weekly

Quote:

During an interview, Ian Somerhalder (Boone), the actor made a few revelations about the monster. He said something that can be resumed to: "You will see a piece of what it is during the 2-hour season finale, and it should clear up some questions" One other detail he let slip was that his character shows up one more time this season. I'm hoping it will be in a flashback, not as a corpse in a funeral scene. Source: Live with Regis and Kelly

Quote:

Death is "in the DNA" of a show with so many regular characters and an air of imminent danger, Lindelof says. He and fellow executive producer J.J. Abrams decided to have the death come now so that the ramifications could play out leading up to the two-part, three-hour season finale (May 18 and 25, 8 p.m. ET/PT). And "that's not to say Boone is the only character who dies this season," Lindelof says. Source: USA Today

My youngest daughter's a big LOST fan and a Boone fan and she's a bit disappointed. She said she had heard an interview with him after the ep aired that the actor was not happy to be the first to die. In fact, he had plan to get a house in Hawaii since that's where it's filmed. But I did tell her that since the show relies show heavily on flashbacks that he could make future appearances, if he's up for that.

tonights episode isn't a new one, but it will be a special show. here's the description from ABC.com:

ABC invites new and avid "Lost" viewers to take a fresh look at one of this season's most talked about shows. "Lost: The Journey" promises to explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date -- but which current viewers will also find illuminating. From the back stories of some of the most interesting characters on television to the mysteries of the island, "Lost: The Journey" will provide an insightful glimpse at the lives of some of the survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815. Narrated in a linear fashion and culminating from the pieces of the back stories told over multiple episodes in the series, "Lost: The Journey" focuses on the flashbacks of a core of characters, illustrating who they were and what they were doing before the crash. In addition, the island itself will be explored - culled from events that have taken place - which may reveal some of its secrets.

Okay, now we know why The Plane was important to Kate. But I want to know why Kate's mother started screaming bloody murder at the hospital. What the hell happened there?

Yeah, Walt is freaking me out. "We can stay here. You and me," Michael (the father) says. "No, we can't," Walt says. Yeah, what's not freaky about that And Walt telling Locke not to open the hatch . . .

The preview for next week looks like it's gonna blow every thing away . . . looks incredible!

Did you notice, in the preview, that it looks like Hurley finally gets a look at the hatch . . . and I'll bet you he sees the Numbers on the side.

I see that I was not the only one who thought this...;)
