the question isn't a nitpick, it is, as i said, meant to set the record straight.
and since you've decided to ridicule us...
the path this thread has taken started with YOU saying you would never date a middle eastern man because you "HATE that abusive mentality that they all have, whether it's physical or mental." that's right, i'm quoting you. and whether you meant what you said or not, those words carry a lot of weight. if you didn't want to spark discussion you should have never said something so incredibly ignorant!

furthermore, this "nitpicking" would have ceased long ago if you had simply made your point clear when asked. that's why i asked if you really believe that all middle eastern men have that mentality? if no, we'll move on. if yes, you have some serious issues that need to be addressed. point blank.

I hope I haven't come across as defending abuse. I think the fact that the woman inteh article edures the abuse she recieves iis apawling and the fact that teh man isn't strung from a telephone pole so people can throw things at him is also appauling.
I think what sent everyone into a tizzy (myself included  ) is our ingrained political correctness that responds harshly to any generalisation regardless of where teh speaker is coming from. Oh and Wednesday the decade she's living in is a decade where many middle eastern countries don't let women vote or hold jobs. One of wich is just now is allowing women to vote and teach (thanks W!) A decade where a middle eastern woman can be executed for the unforgivable crime of being raped and a decade in which female circumcision is still practiced. Perhaps when these practices have all ended and we've put an end to the culture of violence against women demonstrated in a story in wich a woman thinks it's fair to ask for only one beating a week, perhaps then we can ask those middle eastern women to be a little more politically correct.

are we americans better off than those in the middle east? yeah, definitely. but it doesn't come down to christian vs. islamic, believe me. there are good christians and bad christians, just like there are good islams and bad.

listen, i don't mean to jump on anyone. that's not what my question was about. i've been farting a lot tonight, and, frankly, the stench is starting to get to me.
but i don't care for the attitude toward middle easterners. since 9/11 it seems we've been looking for ways to villify (sp?) anyone who looks like the people who hurt us, and we're coming up with theories and thoughts right outta the same book as "Dark Africa" and "Manifest Destiny."
i personally know a lotta middle eastern men. you know where i know them from? the military. they came here, became citizens, and enlisted. they didn't join because the middle east is a place of evil, they did it because they wanted to give something back to the country that gave them opportunities they couldn't find in their own impoverished nation.
and they are some of the nicest gentlemen i've ever known.
these countries aren't evil. the islamic religion isn't evil or any less than christianity. oppression is evil. sexism is evil. abuse is evil. and so is ignorance.

Your jumping to too many conclusions and assuming way too mauc, why don't we start over, because 99% of what you assume are my intentions are just wrong. I don't think all middle easterners are abusive. I do think it's a culture where abuse is far more pervasive. I still hold that people should be measured as indeviduals, but I think a woman growing up in that culture is far within her rights to speak generally about that culture, but I guess instead of asking if she's right about her statements we'll argue the use of the word all. When I said "Christian", I wasn't saying that Chritian middle easterners are better, I said that because while I didn't know Batwoman was middle eastern, I did know she was a Christian. Now I haven't even gotten arround to responding to your comments, I've just nicked the surface of correcting the assumptions you based your comments on.

That's fair, and yes I have heard of sarcasm. I just thought it was a little rambling and a little late. Also the last line I took as more of an insult that mere sarcasm. Also it really didn't get my blood boiling, it was more just kind of annoying. Also I was allready in a bad mood that night and my other intereactions with Fused usually just end up in him insulting me and dissapearing without ever handling the debate at hand. Just a personal preferance I guess.
