in life, sure. you could take that stance on anything.

but in football, there's nothing more important than football, and there's no "ricky" in "team" (i checked).

he didn't stop and own up to his problems and apologize to his team or his fans or whomever. he didn't stick it out during his punishment or accept his mistakes. he didn't give the team an opportunity to replace him. he fucked up, then took the easy road out.

life should see past that. football should not, and clearly his team mates do not.
