I'm not sure if this warranted its own thread or not(I was gonna post it in the VP debate one), but I think it's a funny enough story to be its own heading. During the debate last night, some of you may remember that at one point, Cheney tells us to go to "factcheck.com" to back up one of his statements. Or to dispel one of Edwards', I can't remember which. He actually meant factcheck.org. If you go to www.factcheck.com, you'll get redirected to GeorgeSoros.com, which will give you reasons why Dubbya Bush should not be re-elected. The Soros site does not own the factcheck.com domain name, but whoever does is redirecting people there.
And that's terrible.

Yup I was pretty pissed about that, but it doesn't taint my every reation to every thing that happens in the world. Hell after that I was even able to laugh at myself or didn't you recognise that second quote as self depricating humor?

The other web sight wasn't pleased with Cheney either. The Web site Cheney had in mind, factcheck.org, was not amused when the vice president proved that he was not master of the factcheckers' domain. Factcheck.org, run by the Annenberg Center of the University of Pennsylvania, said on its site on Wednesday that Cheney not only got the domain name confused, he had mischaracterized its fact-finding. "Cheney ... wrongly implied that we had rebutted allegations Edwards was making about what Cheney had done as chief executive officer of Halliburton," the site said on Wednesday. "In fact we did post an article pointing out that Cheney hasn't profited personally while in office from Halliburton's Iraq contracts, as falsely implied by a Kerry TV ad. Yeah, I saw that. It was really a double whammy on Cheney's part, he would've been way better off just defending himself without dropping urls.

The analysis, written by veteran Washington journalist Brooks Jackson and overseen by Annenberg director Kathleen Hall Jamieson, faulted Cheney in particular for implying that FactCheck had defended his tenure as Halliburton CEO. Instead, FactCheck's earlier articles had focused on Halliburton-related matters during the Bush presidency.
FactCheck is funded, Jamieson said, by an Annenberg Foundation endowment. Launched last year, the website has posted more than 100 articles on campaign-related charges and claims. Many journalists have cited FactCheck's work.
Frequently, FactCheck has accused Democrats and Kerry of overstatements, distortions or puffery. But a large number of its articles have skewered claims made by the Bush campaign, for instance, about Kerry's record on taxes, defense and Iraq.
