You have to rewrite an entire play by tomorrow?!?

What's the word-count for the assignment? How close do you have to be to the story?

I don't have to rewrite it line by line. This makes me a little closer to happy.

Our class was split into two groups and each was given a play summary (the other group received "As You Like It," which I think is the better play of the two). Each summary is about 12 pages long, single spaced, small print. Each group had to pick a director and a playwright. I was chosen to be the playwright of my group not because of my wonderful sense of humor and/or wit, but because my group is mostly female and they all wanna get with me.

As a side note, there's also a gay guy in the group. He ain't gettin' none o' this, however.

So I have to write a 25-minute play based on the summary. Word count? I dunno. The greatest problem is that the summary isn't funny. It's quite unfunny, actually. Fast fact: in abbreviation, the summary leaves out almost all of the funny scenes and many of the funnier characters. I'll have to insert jokes of my own.

Use RKMBs humor. It will confuse people but will make them laugh anyway.

Twelth Night's easy. Try doing a 25 minute modernized version of Henry V with 6 people in a day, and then tell me about difficulties.

Use the word anus very often. Make the characters scream it. All of the characters should scream the word at least once so the play can be funny.

put in a lot of gay jokes. homosexuals are funny.

make it a really slutty play too. people should be scantilly clad. people will be happy when the girls get nekkid and appalled when the boys do (with some unloved exceptions)

Just copy from the original play but use a crazy font with a shockingly bright color.

Okay, so I've put in a lot of gay jokes, made the main character scream out the word "anus" at the very end, and quoted The Big Lebowski. Then I scrapped the whole thing, just copied the original, and changed the font so it looks all symbolly.

This could work.

Seriously, though, I did stitch the phrase "owner of a lonely heart" in there as a shout out to the RKMBs.

it went over pretty well. kinda long, but that's okay. i wanted to get everything in. some of the jokes went over their heads, but i think that's cuz they were too rkmb-ish for normalites. i, of course, blame every single one of you.

plus i got writing credit for it when i wasn't s'posed to. word up.

I never posted an update in the Writer's Block thread concerning my Twelfth Night play. I once stated that following Dave's review I would tell everyone how the actual play went.

Oh, right. I was wondering about that. Kinda. It was in the back of my mind.
