essentially, it means you fucked up somewhere. not purposely, or harmfully, but you did something, somehow, to remove yourself from "potential partner" and add yourself to "person who hears about potential partners"
you'll continue to try to escape from the friend zone, but 99.999% of the time, you'll be pathetically unable.

women have men as friends like they have fire extinguishers on the wall. "in case of emergency, break glass" (i.e; when they want or need it, they'll get it -- but not before or until then).
men just have women as friends that they haven't fucked yet. they're just currently lost in the dreaded zone.
