I'm reminded of the Simpsons episode where Bart bid a million bucks for something, then when asked to pay he ran out laughing. The auctioneer then went to the next highest bidder, who did the same thing. Finally he asks "did anybody make a serious bid on this item?" and everybody shakes their head.

And that's terrible.
