The majority position in the U.S. is that Jesus is a person worthy of respect and celebration for his teachings. That positon would appear to be irrespective of claimed divinity.

Basically, what I'm saying is why CAN'T we treat Christmas both ways?

Why can't the Christians view it as "birth of messiah" and everyone else view it as "birth of man of peace"?
