I had to bring this one back cuz my first day teaching was yesterday!!!First of all I was running kinda late today(stopped for Starbuck's) mostly cuz my sister had to STOP and get gas. So I walk into class and everybody's waiting for me (oh the joys :P). Anyways they all seemed really thrilled about their research papers (tenth graders) and tomorrow we head across the street to the library!.
Then the eighth graders showed up (last class in the mornings) and they were all hyped to have me. The boys were like, "Dude, you were our substitute!!!!!!" Everybody seemed thrilled. I told this one kid, Jas, that I thought he looked cool snackin away while he was taking an Algebra I test. He smiled and goes, "I sure bombed that one." LOL, SO FUNNY!!!!!! Anyways, then they were like, "So do we get to do anything fun today??" So we chatted about Christmas and New Years. They really wanna do short stories and poetry so I'll see what I can do there grade wise (bright groupa kids!).
Then I had lunch for an hour *sorta, kinda*. Several teachers dropped by hinting they wanted my overhead machine (tough luck.....math gets priority bwahaha ;P). Anyways by the time I reviewed PreCal, Alg II, Pre-Algebra, and Chemistry I only had ten minutes left so on the way to grab some water I bump into the ever so cool, Mr. Rainey who chatted with me bout how my day went. Totally awesome guy...even gave me some short stories I can go over with my eighth graders! By the time that was over it was time for PreCal to start.
I don't know WHAT the teacher's been doing with them but several of the kids were clueless about IDENTITIES!!!!! Like 1*a=a only insteada that you have trig functions i.e. sinx^2+cosx^2=1, etc. The rest of the section is just about simplifying equations using the identities. I have a feeling mosta tomorrow's class is gonna be going over homework. Chemistry went pretty cool! My mom brought home my science lab book so I have some sweet experiments for them and for my Life Science class (all seventh grade girls which is fun

.
The absolute best, math enabled class??? Pre-Algebra...I explained functions which is basically the cornerstone of mathematics and they all GOT IT!!!!!! So awesome...great group of workers. Algebra II class was next and it went by alright...took FOREVER to explain some problems though!!!! I'll probably have to clear up some stuff homework wise tomorrow.
Anyways the AWESOMEST part of the whole day was the sign they hung on the outside of the classroom which said, "Ms. Arp". YEAH!!!!!!! Freakin great man...having my name by the door *YEAH!*. I even tutored a kiddo after school that has a POWELL Flute...a POWELL! I'd trade my arm for that thing man......those things are totally awesome! I helped him out with his psycho, Bio class. The article kept stressin people DYING from being antibiotic resistant..absolutely hilarious :P I'm just glad I didn't have to take that AP class.
So today's been the bestest day EVER! I'm off to enjoy a nice, hot bath, swipe the keys to the car tomorrow, and review some ALG II (graphing parabolas..its been a week since I reviewed it last :P). Ya'll have an awesome day!!!!!!!!!!
