I edited the title cause I'm bored.
MURDER MYSTERY! would be exactly that: a murder mystery. Only in caps and with an exclamation point at the end.
The way this thread would work would be kinda experimental. I would start the story posting the initial situation: there's a murder in the territory of one of the three Vanguard Universe teams (VI, VE, Strikeforce). I detail the murder scene. Maybe even post a drawing of it, if I'm feeling artistic. Post whatever notes of messages the killer leaves. You take it from there: analyze the murder scene, make theories about the killer or his motives. Then I post another murder, this time in the territory of another team, and the same thing happens.
The killings will go on until you figure out something I'll be hinting about the killer. Since I don't expect you to figure it out right away (that would be fucking boring) there's two other things you can guess. Both will be guess-able from the very beginning and will become more evident as the killings go on. Something to keep you entertained, since I don't want the game to end right away so I'll make the other thing you have to figure out as hard to guess as I can.
This story isn't fully structured, so it might go to places I never suspected it would go. Also, I could advance the story by writing your characters myself and making them figure out things.
I need this to be a crossover because I need certain members from each team, but that doesn't mean every single member will participate in the story (that would get a bit crowded). Also, it doesn't mean I'll tell you what characters to use: if I need a character you haven't involved yourselves, I'll involve him or her myself.
But this wouldn't just be a fun game: this would also be a story with relevance and important involvent from certain characters of the Vanguard Universe. I don't wanna say anything about the story itself because I think it's pretty fucking cool and I don't wanna spoil anything.
So... what say you?

I'm assuming the cardinal rule of not killing others' characters will remain in place.

What you do then is have a character rape a 8th tier character to shock the readers into caring about her.

Mxy, this idea still sounds as cool as the first time I heard about it. Do it.
Thing is- I can’t spell or type. I spell so badly my spell check doesn’t even know what I was trying to spell. And I have five Eisners HAHAHAHHA!!

Afterwards it's revealed that Lord Blast used to be a criminal mastermind until the DCMB Age MBL fiddled with his brain. Another villain that got brain-raped was The Anti-Moderator: he actually used to be very manly.

I am against this idea completely. It would be spontaneous, original, genius, and a hell of a lot of fun to do. And this group will have none of that, mister!

I like it. Sounds fun and original. Plus, it would be cool seeing Adem take over. After all, he is a detective, so I imagine a murder mystery would be just his sort of thing. Heh, I can see it now...
SHERLOCK DIFFERENT AND THE CASE OF FIENDISH COMPLEXITY
Starring:
Adem Different as Sherlock Holmes! Ozzy Baxter as Dr. Watson! Drake Marshall as Inspector Lestrade! Tommy Foxe as that Prat at the back!
and Icarus as the victim!
The Killer, of course, would be everyone who ever met him!

Thank you, Prom.
Seriously, this would be a great chance for Adem to make a big contribution. It's often worried me that, as a detective, Adem often seemed sidelined when the combat started.

But, see, that would be the point of Adem, as a character. Adem IS a detective. His main strength is his deductive capabilities. Of course he'll be sidelined during most combat situations. He's not a fighter. But, then, the other side to that is, say, Ozzy for example, will be sidelined for the times when deductive thinking is required. Why? Because Ozzy's strengths lie within his fists, not his head. I always tried to really keep focus on this concept with my old character Prometheus. Pro was the brains. Period. Nine-times-out-of-ten, if he got into a physical match with someone, I always tried to write him getting his ass handed to him. Because, that was his point. He was brains, not brawn. And any waiver in that attitude would have seriously undermined the spirit of the character for me. This, to me, is the most important aspect of group writing. Play each character equally, and evenly. Play every character to their strengths AND to their weaknesses. Allow each, accept both, and create a stronger whole because of it. If Adem Different wasn't sidelined during most battles, and stood up there with the rest of the warriors/soldiers/fighters, well....he wouldn't really be Adem Different, now would he?

True. But what really concerns me, and what stems from that, is that Adem is largely background for any given story's climax. Almost always, the stories climax with a fight. Fair enough, it's a good wway to finish up. But that means that Adem is always sidelined at the major moment. Not such a good thing.
Also, Adem is further isolated by one factor. All the other members of VE can fight. To a man (or women), the other members of the team can step up and handle a combat situation. That's partially why I made Tommy the way he is: he's not much of a fighter either, so at least Adem won't be too much out of the way.

I respect your concern, but please read the last two stories and show me examples of Adem being sidelined during the climax.

Oh yeah. I haven't read it in years. Hamlet was just such a pussy though. MacBeth and Othello kicked his ass.
