My opinion, let the VI guys do their stuff for a bit, to give them some time to play, and to not interrupt the flow of the story. But ultimately, it's down to whatever Mxy feels appropriate.
I think the VI part has been set up already, so a "Meanwhile..." back in Europe wouldn't hurt. Go for it, SPAMM.
