That's ridiculous. There was and still is a distinct Southern culture in the USA. Pretending that the Confederacy didn't happen is a denial of our own history. Flying the Stars & Bars over the state house is one thing but celebrating Southern culture at a school assembly is another. There was more to the Southern cause than just slavery.
